Default STi BOV sound clips anyone ? plus de-snorkelfying q's...

Hi guys,

I for one like BOV sounds and it's a personal thing, so please
don't go posting flames here.

I am looking for some BOV sound clips on a few options for my
STi. I was thinking about the WorxTuning BOV or TurboXS -rfl.
Can anyone post some interior (and maybe exterior) sound clips
of these in operation? I tried the dl at the turboxs WEBsite and
my machine cannot play it for some reason. I like the WORX unit's
OEM color match and drop-in-bolt-up appeal so I am most
interested in getting a sound clip of that one. I e-mailed them for
one but they never sent anything

I was also thinking about de-snorkelfying my car and going with
the 7"->3" velocity stack inlet that someone wrote about earlier.
Anyone have a sound clip of how the stock BOV sounds using this
kind of conversion? (de-snorkelfied) I have seen people write
that you can hear the BOV much clearer with this done....

Lastly, when de-snorkelfying has anyone gone with an upgraded
flat-panel filter in the box? Make and model? Results? With
changing the filter I am also a bit concerned about filtering
performance. My past experneice is that the HKS Mega flow units
do very little filtration- has anyone seen any test results on this
kind of thing? It would be great to know what filters work best
AND increase performance.

As always, thanks in advance for any help...

-Brian

I should have video from inside my STi of a nighttime run on a really cool road (already got vid of the road but no BOV sound in it, not an aggressive run, bad camera angle and daytime ) in the near future...the BOV will be quite audible.

I am trying to hook up with one of my friends who has a Digital recorder and take some video and sound clips to send to my brother. I will post some clips of the WorxTuning valve for you if I can ever get the equipment.

Check out http://www.alltrac.net/tuning/alltracblowoff.htm _or_ http://socalsupras.com/tuning/blowoffvalve.html

These sites (identical?) have some BOV sound clips available.

Oh yeah, didn't make the clip specifically for the BOV but got it loud and clear in STiParkRun2.mov:
http://www.schoolsubjects.com/sti/video

It's an HKS SSQV.

i think he's referring to the stock air intake which goes up the front of the engine bay and flattens out to suck air from under the hood.. .

I heard that WORXtuning will be making their BOV sound clips available via their website shortly. You may want to email them for a clip if you can't wait..

I like the sound although it is not very pronounced. It sounds more like chirping than wooshing, but maybe, that's just me.

A few questions, if you don't mind...
- So, are you running richer (perhaps a worse mileage, too?) as others say?
- Do you have to purchase a WRX or STi-specific mounting kit for SSQV?
- Does the installation require a ECU reset?

Thanks,

-Rich

-Gas mileage has NOT changed. If it gets worse, it's not noticable in the slightest bit.
-The kit for the 2002 WRX fits the STi perfectly. Same factory BOV, I'm told, and the same aftermarket kit fits. It was an easy install.
-It says to unhook the cable from the negative terminal. Mine stayed unhooked a long time. If this resets the computer, then it does require it (according tot he instructions).

I really like it...it's fun. Scares small children and ricers. In the car, it sounds awesome...the camera doesn't quite catch it. At some point, I'll have video from outside the car with it...

The factory valve on the WRX has a lower spring pressure than the STi, otherwise the valves are identical.
