Got bit, bought the BRZ
Well, I had made some posts going back and forth on this topic, how unsure I was with trading in / selling my 07 LGT stage 2 towards a BRZ... after the test drive I have to say I got back with a smile on my face. I don't like the lack of view while trying to change lanes (I figure I'll put on some old people stick-on rounded mirrors) or the fact that it doesn't have a center arm rest. I'll just design one and have the laser table cut one for me. I've only driven the 30 miles from dealership to work but had a blast just driving around. I can't wait until I break it in and can start to really have some fun with it. The bolsters are pretty crazy, remind me a lot of my 05 WRX and my 93 MR2 turbo. I will update later tonight or tomorrow after I do a proper photoshoot with it.
...I grabbed the galaxy blue limited and have plans for some nice black rims. I think I'll miss my legacy - fast, comfortable, controllable (in a 90mph slide on a frozen lake), and can fit 5 people. But since it's just me 99% of the time I figured what the hell, and I'll have some fun with something different. It will need some power upgrades and stickier tires once I get more dough.

Congrats!
Things have changed. Don't baby the motor, but don't hangout at redline, either. Even metals learn to adjust, but if you baby the motor and THEN try to "have fun" they'll have a harder time settling in. You want to work out as much issues that could be had with the car as possible. Drive it like you normally would. I did with my WRX and got the seat-warmer switch and battery replaced under warranty just before the car reached 34.5k miles. |

just some quick photos - all with my iphone except for the 2nd pic. I'll do a proper shoot w/o that horrible front plate bracket and dead bug, hopefully this weekend. ~Shelby |

but when it's cloudy and raining, it has a purple-ish hue to it... but in the sun, it looks awesome.

Definately a pretty paint color. Truth is I really wanted PBP but they didn't offer it on the 2011 WRX. So DGM it was.
That deep blue is beautiful on the BRZ. That flake reminds me a lot of the amount in the premium dark red that Chevy has for the Camaro and Cadillac. |

Sometimes I like this Galaxy Blue. It kind of looks like an Old Man color, though, or... dare I say it... "mature" color. |

Why do you think I avoided the WRB, I didn't want every kiddo in town trying to race me. The DGM is a much less noticable color. There are actually 3 other DGM's in town all driven buy individuals a good deal older than I am.
That Galaxy Blue is a very pretty color, like i said I wanted the PBP myself. About the only other thing that could sway me would have been a nice dark metallic green. |

I test drove the WRB, absolutely love the color... but two things swayed my choice:
1. I suspected everyone else will go for this color and wanted something a tad different. 2. (most importantly) WRB - I thought would draw too much attention and my driving style doesn't need it. This color is a little more subtle, won't stand out as much, but still enough to catch someone's eye and make them wonder what it is. I've had people fly up behind me, but they haven't bothered revving it up or try to race me... I get the feeling if it were WRB with gold wheels, they would of. That being said, when/if the sti version comes out, I'll most likely be trading this in for the sti in either WRB or black... then again, the color may really grow on me too. |

Awesome shots. You're spot on about the WRB getting a lot of attention, the cops in the small town I grew up pull me over pretty much every time I go back there in my WRX, but I have never gotten a single ticket. They just see a WRB car with a loud exhaust and assume I must be a punk. That definitely was part of why I went with SWP for the BRZ. The galaxy blue is an awesome looking color on this car, the first one I saw in person was GBS and I was pretty close to switching. So far the only thing I'm really missing from my WRX is the sound of my Stromung exhaust and the cheap parts.

I came from my stage 2 legacy gt... I miss the quiet highway ride and the 0-60 in 5.3 times. I also just miss the car - I did everything with it, vacations, road trips, ice racing, 70mph sideways on a frozen lake like nothing... I have a sneaking suspicion I won't want to / be able to do that in the brz. I also just realized they are only importing 6k of them for the first batch. ...I'm just waiting the coveted sti version (which I'll need). But for now, awesome handling and 30mpg will do just fine for me. even w/ the GBS, it turns heads around here (upstate NY) where I work... but definitely not as much as the WRB would. I took an sti for a test drive a few years back when I was looking at getting rid of the wrx for an sti or legacy spec b - I quite literally pulled out of the lot and had a cop blow a red light to chase me and follow me for the next few miles. I turned around, gave the keys to the dealership and told them it's going to be a legacy - didn't need that kind of attention, heh. Then I found out the spec b had twice the insurance of a regular legacy w/o any extra speed... and that awful blue interior. well... I'm going to go back to drooling over turbo kits, work wheels and go pro setups. |

Damn that's a nice blue. Haven't seen one in person yet (of that color), but great photos.
I'm really interested in what you end up doing for an arm rest. |

See, I would get one now, then when the turbo version is released I'd buy that engine and all the plumbing, but buy aftermarket stuff since the engine is out of the car anyways and just have two engines. Ride the turbo one until it blows, then have the stock NA motor put back in for a friendlier driving experience. Hahaha
