I payed about $500 more to buy a brand new STi, rather than a used one.
It's better when only one owner abuses their car not two

I am a sales person at a dealership in AZ and the price listed are high I will agree but I gurantee you that that price is nagotiable, it is not set in stone for instance we have a 2009 sti that was traded in and we gave the person 23k for it and are asking 30k for it now it is stage 2 but I know we can get down in price way down so go back in with a number that is below where you want to be and work up to where you want to be.

I did the same thing through IMBA. You just have to be a member for 6 months before being able to use it. Join now and in 6 months you can get 2% below invoice. |

I bought a brand new motorcycle for 9K and once it leaves the show room floor, it depreciated in value right away. Sold it several years later for 4-5K. My buddy bought a USED motorcycle for 3K. 2 years later, he sold it for... 3K! Quote:

I got mine for less than what you were quoted. I emailed 3 dealerships and had them fight for my business. I got lots of options too.
Go to the buy thread and see what people are paying. You have to be a smarter shopper. Dont do a VIP program... I got a better deal than some VIP people I've seen post. |

By saying he hates the "current Impreza", he means the 2012+ Impreza, which looks completely different than the current WRXs.

I had originally ordered a base wrx. I talked them down to about $500 under msrp. I couldn't wait for it to come in. I sold both my cars ('06 vw gli and built '89 chrysler conquest) for a down payment. I started search on subaru for dealers along the east coast. I found maybe 4 listed for sale. I emailed them and offered a price about $2000 less than msrp. A couple responded back saying it was sold, another said that they won't sell it for less than msrp because they can sell it for more. One dealer responded back with around $1000 less than msrp. I went and bought it that weekend. I rented a car, drove 700miles, picked up the car and drove 700 back. So I ended up with with a premium for what I was going to pay for a base.

And when the time comes to sell, it could be worth more than you paid, given that by then new WRXs will only be available with a wimpy 2.0L engine. Last edited by Cocoa Beach Bum; 03-02-2013 at 05:22 PM. |

Try out pre negotiated prices if your having an issue getting the price down.

That's not entirely good advice. It's a great way to establish the price of the new vehicle separate from any possible trade in value. Dealers love to play games with numbers. When I bought my '09 WRX 5-door premium new, there was no haggling over the price because it was well below invoice with the V.I.P pricing. I did, however, work them pretty damn good for my trade and threatened to walk out twice before ending up with a ridiculous deal. I waited until the end of the month and went in late in the day when they were getting ready to close. That added pressure on them works to your advantage.

I would say take your time and wait until the right car comes along, you will be happy you did. I was looking at many cars, but a WRX with what I wanted was outside my price range. (with the costs of getting tint, better audio, etc)
I kept looking around for about 3 months. Then one morning looking on craigslist I see a 2011 Pearl Hatch WRX (premium). I was the first to call, test drove it, and bought it the same day. I got it for 25K, 10,5XX miles on it. Came with snow tires, extra rims, and an access port. Clean title and no damage. (dude lost his job, felt bad for him) So keep looking, and look every day. Don't be afraid to call dealerships in your entire state. Anything inside a days drive. |

Now depending on your financial and credit situation you might wanna just find an older model for cheaper used, THEN fix it up a bit and use it for a trade-in for what you want. |

June 2007 my '88 Justy was listed as being worth $350 on KBB, and Edmunds and I forgot the last one. August of 2008 I checked again as I was approached by a fellow firefighter about buying it. I said it would be better for me to "just give it to you", so I got on to give him a laugh. It was valued at $1500. Your statement is false. |

Well it's a good thing we don't care whether or not you buy it. If you want to bitch then call SoA. You can't expect something exactly what you want when you're not willing to pay for it. Gtfoh

We're talking current cars in this thread. Asking price and selling price are completely different things. Those cars aren't selling for that much. |

Go to a local meet and maybe someone will have a 11+ wrx for you to get a ride in. No guarantees it will be stock though. |
