No idea if these could be. This isn't my area of expertise. I'm fairly confident that it had the works done to it, I sorta figured that was part of it.
Wayno, I'll check in the morning. Out of curiosity, what does it mean if it is?

Wayno, insomnia got the better of me. I looked at the top of the block, and assuming I looked in the right place (just to the left of the "EJ25" on the side of the cylinder on top) it's a casting code 311.

The block can def still be sleeved. All the stock sleeve would be punched out in that case but no reason to really. GL

Just FYI...A bare block can't be balanced with no internals. Balancing means the crank, rods, pistons and flywheel have been balanced at a machine shop.

A bareblock has no internals to balance.

Great price though.

Ah. I guess I sorta figured that was part of a full package. I'll go ahead and change it. Thanks!

There are numbers stamped on the block. Usually right where the two halves meet on top.

Example: B25 701/702/703 is an EJ257 block from 04-06

This is not an ej25 turbo block - it has an open deck. All EJ25 turbo blocks are semi-closed, note the difference in the cylinder walls coolant passages

EJ257

EJ20s however have a open deck design (like the one for sale). Here is a thread with some good info on the matter http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...closed+engines

Yeah, I just thought that the ej255 was open-deck. I had heard that once upon a time. If I'm looking at the casting mark correctly, it says 311, which (since an EJ257 is 703, etc) this may be an EJ253.
Regardless, I'm asking a bit less than I paid for it, but shoot me some offers.
