Yea, its not blocking me from starting the car or anything, but its small stuff like this that makes me wonder what else isn't installed "correctly"...

I did buy the car after all, and love the way it drives and all. Its just that I would expect more from any manufacture selling a car in this day and age to put it together the way it was meant to be put together.

Ill try and take it in to see if they can "realign" the keyhole (I'm just anal about this kind of stuff I guess)

I'm right there with you! JonM3, do you have any condensation in your headlights. I do, and nobody on here will tell me if they do or not. I'll check the keyhole on my car tomorrow.

First year of a new car always has probs like this. Been building subarus for 16 yrs now and fit/finish has gotten way better in that time. These things shouldn't happen but do. Subaru knows about it for sure but decided that it's good enough to start shipping em. Keep it in context though. You wanna see some bad fitment? Come look at my 99 Cherokee! Love it to death but wow...atleast it's gone for 200k mi

No i haven't seen any form in mine yet, but I do park it in an underground temperature controlled garage (not sure if that might "dry" it out). I might have to let sit outside for a day or so in the rain to see if anything happens in the bulb housing.

Ill look out for it though.

Mine is the same way. Probably just the way it is.

Regarding your headlights, I would take a look at whether your bulbs are twisted in correctly and also whether the spring-steel wire is in the proper position. It's possible water got in through an opening if the bulb is not in the proper position. Your car may have been manufactured on a Friday. If you remember Management 101 in Operations Research, statistically, cars made on Mondays and Fridays are more likely to have assembly issues. Or, it just has a broken seal or a crack in the housing somewhere along the way.

I do not have any misting problem in my headlight housing. The car has been through its first wash and wax last week, and went through moderate rain today. I don't see any water penetration issues.

Unrelated to this topic, but an earlier note about the holes in the front bumper: The Subaru dealer said that the two holes in the front bumper are for the black stainless steel license plate bracket. It is not for a Japanese plate. Japanese plates are 8-1/2" center to center, US plates are 7" c-to-c. Those holes in your front bumper are closer together. It would have been nice if Subaru provided painted plugs for those in states that do not require the front plate. I do plan to get that option with the gift certificate because the plate gets bent out of shape or scratches the front bumper. I also used the 3M door edge protection film on the back of my license plate frames so it does not dig into the paint with the edges.

Edmunds has 5spd Sport Premium at:

MSRP: $20,295
Invoice: $19,306

Invoice is $19,306 and not $20,056

MSRP: $20,295 + $750 = $21,045
Invoice: $19,306 + $750 = $20,056

So where are the discrepancies?

From my understanding destination fee is not included in MSRP. Dest is an addition to MSRP.

No worries. So you basically got invoice plus Dest fee waived?

That's correct. It was my 3rd Subaru dealer, and by FAR the best price I could find.

My dealer claimed that Edmunds invoice pricing is incorrect. I don't know if he is telling the truth, or just slowly baking in a little bit here and a little bit there. I saw a difference of about $300 or so between what they showed me as their invoice vs Edmunds.

Anyone go with the seatback protector? Edmunds has MSRP at $50 and invoice at $6. Can markup really be that much?

Also Edmunds invoicing is spot on from what I have heard.

Some areas have a "regional ad fee". Go to www.truecar.com . Pick the car and put in your zip code. Then check out "Included Fees". NJ possibly has a $482 regional ad fee. In Maryland, there is none.

I only noticed now that there is no seatback pocket behind the driver's seat at least in my Sport Limited, unless someone forgot to sew it in at the factory. The pocket is only behind the front passenger's seat. How hard can it be to have it behind both seats?

It's an important storage location if you have kids always sitting in the back.

The other thing that I really don't like is the location of the Info pin. Subaru should have figured out how to get more onto the center console. I could live with the odometer reset button where it is because you won't reset until you refuel and you'll be stopped anyway. But, if you want to scroll through the info, it's awkward to get to.

these ad fees are not listed on my contract. It only shows:

$299 Doc fee
$ whatever motor vehicle fees come out to
$7.50 tire tax

another dealer was charging $199 for the Doc fee, so this is variable from dealer to dealer.

Truecar shows invoice was $39 for the protectors. Who knows I suppose.

These are the accessories I got and the price I paid:

Rear Seat Protector: $50
All Weather Floormats: $49
Center Console Tray: $29
Cargo Tray: $71
3M Bumper Protector: $79

I missed out on the $500 deal because I ordered in the first week of November.

BUTTTTTT I had gone back and forth with SOA through email and was able to get $250 in free accessories for being a repeat customer. Sigh....I love Subaru.

The Edmund stated Invoice price is not the same as that provided to the dealers. It, for some reason is either higher or lower for reasons unknown. I had posted this earlier and it causes problems when trying to bring a deal together. I contacted them and they stated that their prices where those that were provided by Subaru - other sites that provide an Invoice price do not exhibit this disparity.

My "take" on this is essentially, I just don't know; however, my dealer did provide me the "real thing" as provided by Subaru. I am satisfied with the disclosed Invoice costs. Now having said that, there are a lot of "under the cover" discounts for the dealer that the general public is not aware of (many are volume dependent). One must remember that the Dealership, Sales Staff, etc... don't work for free and must support their families. If you can purchase a new car at Invoice it's a good deal, if less then it is even better; however, the margin between the two is not really that much.

A contract shows what you pay for the car, plus how much they charge to complete the paperwork (doc fee), plus how much they collect for the MVA (tax, title, registration, etc. Regional ad fee is part of the invoice. A contract would either simply show the transaction price or the MSRP minus the discount.

My 2008 Forester Sports XT didn't have driver's side rear seatback pockets, nor does my current 2011 WRX Limited sedan.

I guess I'm used to them being in my 00 Odyssey and 08 G35x. Now, that you mention it, I can't recall for sure if my 00 Legacy GT had them, but I think it did. I sold it just before I ordered the Impreza back in October.
