Default My wanna-be STi wagon. Progress and show off.

I've had my car for 8 months and I've already done some mods. I just wish that I had more money... Ugh. College life ftmfl.

Most of these are from my phone. So I apologize ahead of time.
Bought it like this:
It had some things done to it that I did NOT like. Put on a stock BPV, and an SPT intake. It also had a very loud exhaust on it. So I replaced that.

I lost my clutch around 67k miles. Seemed very short life to me. The guy had a custom tune on the car that was beating the CRAP out of the TD04 and the EJ20. So I put the Exedy Stg. 3 (Hyper Single) in anticipation for other mods. It's WAY too strong of a clutch for daily driving and a factory transmission. But I got it for wayyyy cheap.

Piston kicked the bucket

Got an STi block.

And the supporting mods of course... VF39 and an STi TMIC. I also got the GTSpec Unequal Length header. 3-bolt up pipe. The Perrin turbo inlet pipe was a no brainer since everything was apart.

No, the manifold was not used. I just didn't get pictures until after the install.

Ans yes, the canoe is a very necessary modification.

After the motor was back together (Thank you Jotech), I obviously had to get a different MAP put on the car. I completely spaced on upgrading the injectors, so I unfortunately couldn't ask for the power that I wanted. It just wasn't safe. So I'm tuned very conservatively. Here's a graph from the IDC ~80%. It was backed way off for daily driving.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v489/InTheNameOfWeez/Subaru/?action=view&current=MVI_0436.flv
And here is the exhaust that I put on it. Much quieter in the cabin that the ebay TBE I had. The Fujitsubo does a FANTASTIC job of pushing all of the sound OUT. It still has quite a bit of sound output when at WOT.

The one piece catback RM01-A was made for the factory DP, so I had to cut and reweld a true 3" flat flange on it for a perfect fit.

I REALLY like the way it looks under the bumper.

And yes, the mudflaps are UR red with white lettering. Love 'em.

We're serious about winter in UT.

I got a GREAT deal from Stillen on brakes that they had laying around for a while.
DBA 2-piece rotors and Hawk pads.

This is how she looks today.

Yea yea, it's not an STi. I know. So shut it.

AND THEN 3 weeks ago, I felt the fear of every WRX owner become a reality. The STi block and Exedy Hyper Single six puck CERAMITALLIC disc finally killed 2nd gear. All of those clutch drops from 1st to 2nd gear finally sheared all of the teeth off. I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet, but I felt the shifter go limp and heard the WORST noise on the planet at the same time. I knew what had happened immediately afterwards.

So I had a decision to make. Stock trans? Pull it apart and replace the gears myself? (I'm a student in a 4 year Automotive Bachelors program. This would be easier than most may think.) I considered a full STi drivetrain swap with 5x114.3 hubs and bearings. A wrecked and totaled 06 07 or STi was my plan... I could resell a lot of parts that I didn't need/didn't want right now. And my stock WRX parts also. But as previously stated, college is expensive and jobs suck without my degree. So I found a nice, low mileage used 5 spd that already had the RA gears in it. I bought one with 15k miles, Motul fluids always used, and the gears already installed. The previous owner (Chet) said that the thing shifter like butter. I have to say that he was telling nothing but the truth. I lucked out, with the JDM STi V6 LSD having already been installed, this thing should RIP in the snow. It feels so sure footed powering out of turns. And to think that I'm still on stock sways and struts... LOL!

Do not install this thing unless you have a PPG trans or the self control to shift like a grandma. Lol. Whoops.

Shiny STi block. Didn't even get a chance to get any dirt under her nails before the trans crapped out.

Exedy lightweight flywheel. Such a nice part. Looks sexy compared to the stock 2 piece.

That right there, ladies and gentleman, is what I call a best friend. AKA Will Smith with long hair. Friday is the only day to use a bay for personal projects at his dealer. He talked his boss into letting us stay after hours to get my trans swapped out. Working at a Honda dealer as a full fledged technician, I had some confidence that we'd get it done pretty quickly. That's only if you do things the way that they are supposed to be done. Lol. With a Carl's Jr. break and forgetting that the pressure plate on the Stg. 3 is close to an inch thick, but the Stg. 1 is close to stock increased our time a little bit. So I had to run home to get the bolts from the factory clutch and flywheel to get the clutch back together. Not to mention the other little piece of fun that we installed while we had the downpipe off and transmission out.

We were up until 4 in the morning bull****ting about Trance and House music, cars faster than ours, how to rebuild his DA Integra, the fun we were going to have at our Halloween Party. You know the usual. BUT we got it done. And that's all that matters.
BUT I'M GETTING OFF TRACK. I HAVE A STORY TO TELL.

Here's the new RA LSD'd box and some Redline 75-90NS. It's a great fluid. Recommended by Rally Sport Direct for a REASON. Considering the amount of money I've spent with those guys, I'd expect nothing but good advice. Lol.

Brand new!!! AND MORE FORGIVING!!

Shinnyyyyyy.

It still has the stamp on it. Haha. I have a fetish for new parts. Will NASIOC be my support group?

OH!! I almost forgot about my little red devil.
This rooster should scream pretty nicely.

Plenty of clearance for my Invidia DP. Now I just need a wideband sensor...

Lots of room from the CV joint.

And quite a gap from the transmission too. I'm happy!!!

These are the last couple of pictures that I have for right now. After the snow starts dumping, I'll get some shots with the local cars in extreme winter mode. Hopefully I'll have a new dyno graph and a fun video around Christmas time. I am now accepting Christmas presents of CASH for my re-tune. Giving free rides to all those who donate $20 or more.

It's not so shiny anymore...

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 4: Awesome snow tires.

At Wolf Mountain Eden, UT. I may have been parked illegally...

The start of a snow storm.

Did I mention that I HATE that exhaust?

Bugs, then mud, and then more bugs. Dirty girl...

Rally Colorado was a lot of fun. But it got my car extremely dirty. I still haven't washed the engine bay. MY BRAND NEW ENGINE AIR FILTER IS FILTHY.

My Dad came to Jotech to see what was up with Shawn and the build. He posed with the 2.5.

Full header FTW. It sounds soooo much different. Much cooler grunt. Hard to explain.

EJ25 + GTSpec UELH + VF39 + STi TMIC = quick spool and damn good power!!!

What power levels does everybody think is possible with the Grimm Speed EBCS, Tial EWG, and a set of 800cc injectors?

It's disgustingly annoying in the back seat. Up front, I hear more turbo whistle and SPT SRI.

Rally Sport Direct had a sale.

I was complaining about not being able to do a full drive train swap from a newer STi. Did I send you a pm bitching about money? No.
I just stated that more money would be nice.

Thanks for the compliment I guess!! I love the new TBE.

Your car is bad ass + you have an STi drivetrain = nobody should give you crap about an STi badge.

I've got an STi powertrain. No drive train yet.

I guess you could consider my trans to simply be a Ver. 6 STi 5-spd. It has the gears AND the LSD. Maybe you're right! Lol.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Any suggestions?

My wish list is as follows, in order:
Deatschwerks 750cc injectors.
Grimm Speed EBCS (Already have)
HKS Turbo Timer (Already have)
Retune for injectors, EWG, and EBCS.
Sti front splitters + Lip.
Coilovers. (After the snow is gone.)
Later on down the road... HTA68?
