I'm planning to move the tie rod ends down before attempting to move the rack up. I was going to pick up the Perrin super steering response kit, but they pulled it off the market.

Will you be making an appearance at Mowog 1 + 2 with this thing? I assume you're shooting for everything together at least in some form by then.

I..want to drive it.

At the very least, my bro and I will be there rocking his Forester XT. My Forester needs work before I beat on it some more.

No MOWOG 1 or 2 for me this year. I doubt I'll have the car together but I also have to work that weekend.

Weekend work sucks. It's fun watching you zoom around the track in that thing. I hope to see you at some of the later events then when car and scheduling works out a little better.

Had the first event of the year yesterday.

I ran the Hoosier R75 compound radial slicks as my R35's I found to be corded. I figured it wasn't going to be as fast as it could be, but I would get in some good run time in the car.

The good-
The grip was amazing. Overall the car is 1" lower than last year and the suspension geometry is almost perfect for where it sits right now. The larger rear wing helped keep the back end planted but didn't give any problems with understeer that I was expecting. We'll see how it is on faster courses, but I was on the rev limiter in 2nd at one point (64 mph) so I don't expect it to ever be too much. The steering rack (Q-Rack) is REALLY quick. I don't know if I would want it in a daily driver, but in this car it's awesome. I started to get used to it my 3rd run. Overall I expect this to be a very good year. If anyone has a EVO III 16G and some 1K injectors I could borrow (rent?) for the year I think this car would be capable of placing very high at Nationals. (PM me )

The bad-
On my third run and intercooler hose blew off. Not a big deal. At the same time the car started to overheat. Looked like a big deal. After letting the car cool and doing some troubleshooting, it looks like I ran all the power to the radiator fans through one 20 amp fuse. Oops. After unplugging one fan and checking to make sure there was still enough cooling my co-driver ran his runs and I got one more in for the day. Looks like I have some troubleshooting and rewiring to do.

Overall- It's awesome. This is the biggest change to the car since I put in good diffs and took out 300 lbs a few years ago.

I'm looking forward to the next event and the Milwaukee Divisional in a few weeks.

I'm pretty happy running E85 right now and won't change unless I have to.

Think I'll need 2K injectors?

What class SM?

Going E85 mid summer and gotta get some slicks. Street tires do not cut it anymore.

Sean, it's good to hear that the geometry changes are working great for you too. I haven't done the front end yet, aside from the whiteline extended balljoints and tierod ends. I echo your feelings that the changes are pretty much awesome for grip at the ride heights we need to keep. We tried a set of GoodYear 22x9x13 in a super soft R160 compound last weekend.....Grip was incredible, response wasn't so good with the sidewalls. Going to test a set of Avons in 23x10x15 flavor (can't remember the compound offhand) next. Shorter sidewalls should do wonders to increase turn-in. Our weight right now with merely a splash of gas and the 275 Hoosier is 2037, 10lbs over minimum. The slicks only weigh 12lbs compared to the 19lb Hoosiers, so subtract 28lbs from the above number..... We'll confirm the weight at the Toledo Tour and add the necessary weight to bring us back to legal....

I'll keep an eye out for a good used 16G for ya.

no, just didn't remember that you were already on E85. You should be fine.

Car: 1996 Impreza with EJ205 swap
Facility: RS Motors
Type of Dyno: Mustang
Baseline # for a stocker at the dyno: 175 (2004 stock WRX)
Boost: 21.9 psi tapers to 12 psi at redline
Fuel: E85
Target AFR: 12
Peak HP at RPM: 256 WHP @ 5300 rpm
Peak Torque at RPM: 314 WTQ @ 4025rpm

Mods:

2002 WRX EJ205 stock block and heads
65mm CAI
Hard turbo inlet pipe
Grimmspeed PnP TD04
Custom Air-water Intercooler with an ice reservoir to keep intake temps down
TGV deletes
665 cc injectors
Walboro external fuel pump (5 gal fuel cell)
Equal length one piece header
Stromung DP welded to a custom mid pipe and exhaust
0.7 lb crank pulley
13.1 lb Flywheel
ACT clutch
Cusco front and rear clutch diffs
PPG gears

That's all that would affect engine power or drivetrain losses.

Thanks to Ronnie at RS for the tune and the great customer service. I had a few small boost leaks when I came in, his crew found them all and fixed them prior to the tune. When compared to the last tune (prior to the new IC, one piece headers, and fuel pump) it picked up 25 whp and 42 ft-lbs.

I am amazed at how much of a difference the 3 things listed above made. I have a feeling it was mostly the better IC vs. the stock WRX IC. The really amazing thing is that not only did power go up but spool shifted to the left by ~300 RPM. Simply amazing what removing the flow restrictions can do.

Last thing. I lightend the front windshield by going with 1/8" polycarbonate vs. 1/4". 8 lbs difference. I weighed it with all the changes that have been made and a full tank of E85. It came in at 2027 lbs. With the tank almost at empty the car should be at 199x lbs. I can't wait for Nationals.

Hehehehe.... Hahahaha.... Giggle, giggle...

Neal Tovsen took the car for a drive at Cen-Divs this weekend.

I am still giddy about how well everything worked.
