Default building a car in stages and i have some questions/or need some advice

ok here is the plan that i would like to do

i have a 2004 sti with the following mods right now:
stock turbo
mad dad stealthback
prodrive oval axleback
k&n typhoon

what i would like to do is:
keep the stock turbo but p&p it and change out the compressor wheel and have the turbine clipp'd and balanced
have my stock header p&p by crucial
and of course get a pro tune(hopefully by then the should be a reputable tuner in the area)

as far as power goes -- i would just like to beef it up a bit -- i would like to have probably a flat power curve just because i don't redline the car --i mainly drive at 4500 and below--i don't want another turbo--my car is a daily driver and it puts down almost enough horsepower for me

my questions are:
since the turbo and header part are at least 2 years off (car needs pay'd off first) in the meantime to fill in for my power requests i am getting a cobb ap with an off the shelf map or an ecutek reflash from pdx(off the shelf as well)

but since i am still/will be using the stock turbo -- do i/or should i get a boost acuator now to help out with the increase in boost or will that only hurt me later when i get the turbo done and a protune??

is there anything else i should be looking at/for with my setup and the setup that i want??

any advice would help
thanks in advance

I'm not sure that it is worth the time or money to invest in modding a stock VF39. A good port job would help to keep the car from boost spiking, but that is as far as I would go. If you get Cobb stage two or ecutek, you should be very happy with those results. Many stg 2 STi's have hit 12's easily with those mods. The reflash of your ECU will take care of the boost for you, so you don't need a boost actuator.

+1 ^^^^

I just drove my car back from my buddies who did my ecutek reflash.
He just finished litterally 20 mins ago.

I have dp/cbe and Ecutek...It feels like a beast.

You will like it.

If you wanna pick up some extra power, but not need any crazy mods... I'd recommend keep what you got, and get an AP... Then get a protune...

Then when you want to get rid of the car, the AP can reflash the ECU back to stock, and sell the AP w/ your protuned map stored on it for like $600 (when you paid $645 + $400 for a tune)... and basically you only paid $500 for 2-3yrs worth of more power...

If you really plan on getting more mods later... then a protune is not the best idea now... but I still recommend a AP for your choice of engine management.
