CNT racing header *Partial review*
So I just picked up my new header/cat combo. The welds are nice, but the tubing has some minor kinks in it (like it was poorly bent....
I'll be putting it on this week and I'll report back with the old butt dyno (as well as the "autocross dyno" on the weekend) Last edited by danscomp; 07-12-2012 at 08:54 PM. |

So far I'm HUGELY disappointed with the headers. I understand that sometimes when welding headers, the distance between each collector changes due to heat (in my case its 1/2" too narrow) but the flange for the damn headers is messed up. The bolts do NOT line up. I'll have to drill out one of the holes, which in self may cause issues.
At this point I don't think I'll be able to make it to my race on Saturday which is really annoying. Overall at this point I would not recommend this header. Even the ebay special I bought for my 240 had better fitment. Unrelated, if I'm keeping the catback stock, can I use regular gaskets between the cat and the rest of it instead of the weird semi spherical thing. |

^^^ me too. I don't see a point in putting a header on a stock exhaust.... It's like blowing through a coffee straw. Go to 2.25" exhaust with a nice muffler and a resonator to keep it quiet. Headers are pointless without flow after he header.

Cant send it back, I had a wideband bung welded in, I wrapped it and coated it. Also I have a race tomorrow.
For the people saying no point in a header, watch the video. (I also had a leak somewhere in my existing header). http://www.cntracing.com/CNT-EL-98-0...hd-9805srs.htm |

SO after 2 hours of fanagling, and enlarging the holes to a half inch (which were already slightly too much oversized), I was able to get one side on completely, and 1 bolt of the other. The flange is just TOO DAMN SMALL. I'm incredibly pissed and disappointed with their product.
HUGE do NOT recommend for the cnt header. |

I just got mine on the other day. I did not have any of the problems you encountered. It bolted right up without any modification, however, the holes on the header flanges for the block were ever so slightly off, but no so much as to be a problem at all, just an annoyance to my perfectionist side. Also, neither the headers or the catback came with the spring bolts that mount between the two, $10 at napa solved that. It sounds alright, pulls harder and coupled up with the OBX catback I bought perfectly. Sorry to hear you have had such a difficult time with yours.
