Default Morette

Has anyone purchased anything or spoken to Morette (Harold was my contact) in the past 6 months? I think they're ripping me off, they stopped responding to my emails, and I made an order about 10 months ago!

Basically, I wired money and purchased headlights from them on 5/22/2017 and I've only had a couple occasion's where they have responded to me. Basically every couple months, after emailing them for an update, I'm promised more information soon and that my product will be shipped "soon".

Fast forward to now and I have been trying to contact them for months... unsuccessfully. I have not heard back since December of 2017. January 8th I began asking for confirmation I'm not being ripped off and that my order information is correct, I have written emails multiple times since then without a single response.

If Morette is a vendor or anyone has another contact I can reach, please message me with more info, thanks!

Their website I'm using is: http://moretteshop.dynds.biz

Your link takes me to a site trying to sell me a car.

Did you deal with Morrette direct (in Europe) or a reseller/vendor in the US?

I had my hopes up dealing with Europe for parts for my headlights on my '98 Legacy, they sent me a parts drawing with most PN's, I asked for pricing.....then nothing.
This was last summer.

Maybe supply some more info, or, look on this sites vendor list for someone that on here that sells them. Maybe they can help.

That link forwarded me to Edmunds website showing me a 2018 Honda Accord.

So, you wired someone money outside of the US, not using a traceable form of payment (hopefully you did) to a company that may not exist, that quit returning emails and that lists no phone number or address....
That Morette site looks shady AF, they have no contact info or address (that I could find). It says they are 5-8 weeks behind schedule, which would push your order out to July 2017.

I hate to say it, but you may be SOL. Did you use PayPal at least, or a wire transfer company that will insure your purchase? PayPal will insure your purchase (they have a limit, but can't remember what it is), if you didn't use the gift option.

I have no idea why its directing you to strange places, but if you google Morette lights, it shold be the first hit. Sorry, the URL is blocked here at work so I pulled the site up on my phone and tried to write in down here but must have missed a letter.

For the record, I bought it from their UK site, as the US one seems to redirect you there anyway (moretteshop.dyndns.biz/product_info.php?cpath=49_147&products_id=37)

After losing about $500 on headlights I never received, I think I'll have to spite the company and just do an OEM retrofit, although I originally loved the looks of the Morette lights on the GC chassis.

It was Morette direct : /

I mean, I understand they moved their shop last summer but its already nearly "next" summer and I'd like something to show for my $500 donation to a company I'm not even sure exists anymore. Nearly certain a police report will be overlooked.. but I will be filing one this weekend.

That sucks.....I would at least file a police report, you never know. Keep trying, hope it works out for you, $500 is a chunk of change no matter what it's for.

Which police? Town? State? Federal? Interpol?

The scrolling blog post has the last post from May of last year. Not that that means anything, but not a great sign.

They have not had any US vendors for many years. Glad I got mine way back when they did.
Assuming you ever get the lights you ordered, I hope you selected (and get) proper LHD ones, and don't be surprised if the wiring is not plug and play for your car. The vendors who used to sell them here provided their own plug-in adapter harnesses.

People constantly argue with me that Morette is still filling orders. I beg to differ.

I mean, they took my order. So it must be true they're accepting orders, just not communicating very well or fulfilling them. They "updates" on their site would make you believe they're somewhat active, albeit last May. New products have been added to their page in the last month or so though. Gah I'm so fed up right now

Exactly my concern, filing a police report here will likely be in vain. I think it will make me feel better though

I've been holding back for quite a long time before I go A-WOL and post my experience in every forum here to Europe though. Now that will make me feel better, mostly because other people can avoid the situation I'm in.

Good question....who knows where file one. If it were me, I'd at least ask around to see if it would be worth the effort ($500 isn't a small amount to just throw away).
Sounds to me like they closed up and just went bye bye...Like I said before, good luck to the OP, I hope he gets his money back.

Thanks for the support everyone. NOW I understand why people were paying 800$ for these used when I thought one could just order them new from their website for $500ish

This is a cache of the webpage: http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&hl=en&ct=clnk

This just scream chinese knockoff in my opinion... I've seen a lot of fake/counterfit sites designed with a similar template. For example, google "island watches replica" and check out that site.

But maybe I'm wrong and it is a real site. It's weird that all the pages redirect me to other sites.

Yup, I was scammed. I'm now reading posts of other users who have experienced the same exact issues. Literally the same story too, where the guy claims the business was moving or shut down over the summer. FAACCCK, can't believe I fell for this.

Here's an example of somoene else who got F-ed in the A. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.morette.com

Strange thing is that I get directed to that site FROM the morette.com US site. I will be making some very unhappy calls today...

Yeah, I do too actually. Maybe that will be some leverage for you. It's a poorly designed site for sure IMO but perhaps you will get through to someone....

sounds like someone hacked their site and added a redirected a checkout link. but then again, was this [email protected] you were emailing? like did he verify the order at some point?

If you look around, ordering anything from Morette is headache or heartache.

If you are lucky to get a "new" one, odds are it won't be assembled or manufactured like the originals.

Dont know why no one's made a decent clone of these yet.

It was "[email protected]" and yes they verify the order and come up with bullcrap about being shut down for the summer, then a few months later its due to the recession and how their facility is moving. Just a big sob story of excuses.

Yes, clone idea would be genius. Might as well be me since I could care less about any patents they may or may not have, clearly they don't care enough to resolve their site hacking so I don't care about borrowing their idea.

The only time I bought Morrette, it was a group buy on this forum, many, many years ago. No problems then.

Since then, only what I posted earlier in this thread.

That doesnt add up. if it was legit he would be able to use his email at the morette domain since the site is still up, rather than hotmail

[EDIT]
You arent the only one.

If the company did get dissolved the domain name could have been bought and the code could've been stripped from the web archive and reconstructed as a "scam" site.

I've seen some really good morette reps out there, just go for some of them.

Rep's, as in replicas or representatives like authorized sellers?
Either way, could you point me in the right direction to find some!?
