Default Anyone interested in Inline Hockey? Northern Virginia

I've posted 2 threads like this in previous years and gotten great results, so I thought I'd try again.

(actually, the people that played on my team previously are still playing in our league still, but on teams they either started on their own or in higher divisions).

Looking for a few skaters for either a Bronze-South or a Bronze-North team that plays in Sterling, VA (near Dulles, right off 28 north of the Air and Space Museum).

http://www.dullessportsplex.com/AdultInlineHockey.html

Cost is based on # of skaters per team, and it's $1200/team. So it'll probably be around $100-$120. A season comprises of 12 games and playoffs.

Here's my best description of the respective divisions (both of these teams have had a core group of players for several seasons now, so it won't be like a completely new team getting together).

Bronze-South: Well, it's the lowest division there (Bronze-South, Bronz-North, Silver, Gold). If you've never played inline hockey for you before, this would be your division. However, you'll probably feel a bit overwhelmed. Actually, there were several teams who had clearly never played in an organized league before and they were somewhat overwhelmed. I'd say this is a great division if you haven't played in a while, think you're OK, but dont' want to go to the deeper ends quite yet, or if you can barely skate backwards, but are pretty good at skating forwards.

Bronze-North: This is a mixed bag. There are many players from higher divisions that play on additional teams in this level. Some of the higher skilled players from Bronze-South play up here too. Goalie play is significantly better than the Bronze-South. This is a good division if you've played ice for a while and want to make the transition to inline (it's pretty different 4 on 4 and of course, getting used to inline surface). This is below the college or travel team skill level.

Anyways, if you're interested or have any questions, feel free to post or PM me. Teams have to be registered by next weekend. I'll follow this up with more info. to break up this already huge wall of text.

If I lived closer, and still had my blades, I'd be totally down. Used to do this in Oregon. I think someone ganked my blades

Yeah, it's a little out of my way too (I live in Alexandria). But I've played at the outdoor rink off of Seminary before (over a decade ago) and that was hell in the winter and summer.

BTW, if anyone joined, they shouldn't feel like they would have to make EVERY game. It's the summer and also sometimes you just can't make a game.

We try to have about 10-12 skaters on the roster (8 skaters is ideal, and a full line-up rarely happens). In order not to forfeit, you have to have either 5 skaters or 4 skaters and a goalie, so if you can't make a game, it's no big deal.

Also, it's cheap enough where you're only losing less than $10 for that missed game, or you can amortize that cost and say the other games are $11 each.
