viscous differentials and auto-x
so.... most of us have center and rear viscous differentials would there be any advantade to "warming" them up so that they lock sooner in a short race (30 sec) enviorment
if so how..?

It won't really work, and ideally, you don't want AWD to be too much of a factor. In autocross, if you're sliding tires, chances are, you're losing time. Any rotation of a whell that doesn't carry you toward the timing lights is useless. The torque transfer effect happens so quickly, that any change though hot fluid would probably not be noticeable, and maybe not desireable. Bottom line, I'm sure thay designed the diff to lock only when it has to, and if we could intentionally heat the fluid by driving a certain way, it' probably wouldn't be any good for the diff, and would probably not help handling. BTW - the diff itself is not viscous - the coupling between the f/r is. like a torque converter. The rest is just the garden-variety gear thingies.
