Default yes... im going to ask the question... what gas do you use? (fuel additive related)

i use shell gas (93) in my car exclusively. every time ive went to ANY other fuel station, i can fill up and my car runs horrid. it misses, hesitates... just runs like crap. i go put a tank of shell back in and its a wet dream. the engine runs smoooothe like buttah.

i now work for chevron oil, and im getting a gas expense card (hello free gas!). it seems stupid of me to actually pay for gas now when i can get it for free, but i hate putting gas in my car that i dont really like.

SO...

what fuel additives do you guys use? i know that the majority of the octane boost stuff is nothing but marketing, and the lucas oil stuff claims to advertise the ACTUAL octane points that their product boosts your gas. ive never used any fuel additives because shell gas has always been plenty for me so i dont know anything about any of it.

I can only get the 91 piss water out west and never noticed any missing, or hesitation on any brand of fuel. I have one of the first '04 STis and det is a problem when the temp is right...

I try to use Texaco/Chevron. Next choice is shell. Next choice is whatever will get me to a better gas station.

I don't whether Shell's V-power is better than Chevron w/techron. Those are the only 2 gas stations I go to.

Lately i have been using shell 93 Octane V-Power religiously (up to 10% ethanol) if that matters. BTW im in southern NH. I've been wondering how many other states have ethanol added to their fuel...

.......after having read this board for 5+ years, my conclusion is that fuel 'happieness' is very regional, and even seasonal(ie 'winter' gas).

There was a recent thread on fuels and a map showing all the areas with their different 'boutique' fuels......which may help explain some of these regional differences.

Whatever is cheapest (usually Cumberland near my house) and I notice absolutely no difference in how the car runs regardless of brand or octane. Your car's problems may be in your head, or if real have nothing to do with gas.

I use Sunoco 93 most of the time (although I have also put in Sunoco 91 and cannot tell the difference in how the engine runs).

If I do not buy Sunoco, I usually get either Mobil 93 octane, or gas from a local grocery store chain which is also 93 octane.

I have not had any performance problems on any of those.

Texaco was purchased by Chevron a few years ago, so Texaco branded gas is probably very similar to Chevron.

OK, then it has some sort of problem that should be checked out. There's really not that much difference among different brands of gas.

There are no Chevron stations in NY and very few Texaco. I prefer either Exxon, Mobil, Sunoco, BP, Shell in that order and the WRX runs fine. I avoid discount gas.

Shell or Exxon in everything, no additives period.

STI and Avalon get premium, Tundra (6 cyl 5mt) gets regular.
