Thing is, the Baja being a pick-up, has a much smaller passenger compartment than a wagon. So you can really heat up the whole thing pretty quickly.
I can't say that I've specifically thought much about how much heat is getting to my feet as oppossed to my torso, but I do feel a difference depending on how the outlet selector knob is set. I.E. if I have it on dash outlets only my feet get a little cool (or more correctly, my wife's feet) and I tend to set it on foot outlet or foot outlet and defroster settings most of the time. That help? |

My wife complains about the feet heat from the passenger side every damn time she's with me.

I have to agree, that the Baja sucks for "feet heat". When I swear I could bake a potato on the dash vents.
I would have thought that Subaru generally is implied that they build for cold weather, would have done a better job getting hot air to your feet. I have found that if I set blower for bi-level first, things get hot quickly, then I switch to "feet heat" to maintain the warmth. Eventually my feet will get hot enough to lower the thermostat. But it takes awhile One of these days, I'm tempted to dive into the duct system and see if I can modify it. Since I have always suffered from cold feet, even as a child. I miss my parents old Datsun when I was a kid. Now that car put out "feet heat"!!! I remember melting my snow boots one time in that car. |

You don't want to dive into the duct system - it's a huge one-piece vacuum actuated assembly that requires removal of the entire dashboard for access - don't ask how I know.
Maybe I don't think the BAJA has a problem with keeping the feet warm because of the way I heat the whole compartment - I only use the dash vents for a few minutes, then maintain everything with the feet vents. The only time Jenn has ever mentioned it is when we were in a blizzard, she had her shoes off and I had the defroster on full (no feet vents) to try and prevent the wipers from icing too badly. |
