Question Question on 05 LGT Keyless Entry/Factory Alarm

My wife and I just picked up our new 05 LGT Ltd. this morning. We've noticed a little problem with the factory alarm and we're not too sure if we're just doing something wrong.

When we get out of the car and lock the car with the remote, we noticed the security light on the dash blinks rapidly. Then, about 30 seconds later, the alarm goes off. If we press any button on the remote (except panic), it stops and the security light flashes at the normal rate. I made sure we were not touching the remote's panic button or anything. I tested this at least 10 times now with the same results. If we lock the door with the key, everything works normally.

I checked the owner's manual and couldn't find anything that could definitely be causing this. The only possible culprit I found in the manual was something called "Passive Alarm". I think this needs to be activated and deactivated by the dealer.

The car was delivered with the security system upgrade to the dealer and they removed it since we did not want it. I'm thinking they may have done something when they removed the security upgrade.

Any ideas? Anyone have similar problems? We might be taking it back to the dealer to be looked at on Monday.

I'm not exactly an expert on the OEM security system, but this clearly isn't the way it's supposed to work. You leave the car, you click the key fob, it beeps once, and you're set. I'd take your car back to the dealer and tell 'em you won't leave until it works as described above...

Let us know what happens!
