Jacobpockros’s 2021 WRX thread:
I'm not new to the car world. I used to drive a 2001 Subaru Legacy GT Limited with a manual transmission and limited slip. Owned that car for 8 years up until recently at 183k miles. Moved on and started looking for a replacement. I decided I needed to find one of the last new 2021 WRX's for sale before the newer body style came out. This process proved to be somewhat difficult as you could no longer order 2015-2021 bodystyle WRX's anymore. I was set on White with leather interior and most 2021 WRX's that were still new were cars that customers had ordered months ago and backed out on after they arrived at dealerships. Additionally, it was a bad time to buy a new car since there were inventory shortages and dealer markups. Despite this, managed to find a new 21' White/black Limited 6spd at a Subaru dealership in Irvine and made the drive over to look it over. It was not a convenient purchase, but as a die-hard car enthusiast it needed to be right. Made the purchase on January 1st, 2022:
So far my plans are to take it easy on this car and drive it like an old lady. I will be keeping it on stock tune for some time since I have no erge to race my car. No stage 1 or 2 or any of that***8230;. I am an auto Technician and will be doing by-the book maintenance myself using 100% OEM Subaru parts. I will be keeping every receipt on parts that are ordered so this car has an easy-going documented life. I may do some minor things to the car in its future but for now I will enjoy driving the car like a slow grandma. Currently get 23mpg city/highway mixed shifting around 2-3k. I will highlight all my upkeep and "car treats" in this thread.

Congratulations!
Strict maintenance with OEM parts is never a bad plan. I had a similar thought process to you... This past summer we picked up '21 as, like you, I really wanted one of the "old" ones... Although our '21 is vastly changed from our '02 Bugeye, there is still a significant feeling of being part of the same family. |

Yup, we did go with an STI this time around... chose the same color as you (CWP), the main visual difference is the wing, which I am supposed to be too mature for! There are pros and cons when comparing STI versus "straight" WRX, but I feel one can't go wrong either way.
We went with the "middle" trim level (in Canada that's called "Sport"). The main things it does not have are the Recaro seats and the Bilstein struts. |
