This is the first winter I'll be on these coilovers. So far, they do not like the cold temps. So much so that I'm contemplating swapping my stock suspension back on. I'm not bad-mouthing these at all, because they were great all summer and fall, in the warmer temps, but it's so bad right now, I don't know how much longer I can deal with it.
Maybe there's a trick to it, or a winter setting that would be better? I don't know. |

Internals will move slower and get stiffer due to condensing/ cold temps.
The springs will also stiffen up, since they are metal of course. If you are really in Alaska; I would say take them off; no street coilover is worthy of an Alaskan winter IMO! Glad you are enjoying them though!

^^ Well thank you for a quick honest answer.
Yeah, I'm really in Alaska. It was -25 this morning, and it was a pretty stiff ride for the first few miles. |

ISC, do you guys recommend removing the coilovers during the winter months? They don't use salt here in MT, so I'm not worried about them being destroyed by salt, but I definitely don't want to be replacing parts 6 months after I installed them.

It is probably suggested to remove ANY coilover for snowy/salty winters, after all they are al made of metal.
The ISC has anodized aluminum parts and powder coated steel parts. The whole assemble is salt spray coated as well. We suggest using anti-seize on threads/collars as well for the winter/salt people. Tim here has used his ISC's for 3 years now, 2 of them spent winters in NH and one in Ma. Both salty and snowy...

I bought my set used, low miles. Is there any way of telling which spring rate they have?
I think my left rear is starting to clunk (still rides fine, might be the strut brace or something) so I need to look into that but no issues otherwise. I absolutely love the ride and have been recommending them to everyone. I |

I received mine on Thursday, installed Friday, raced Saturday and Sunday. Needless to say, these performed very well. I was able to mess around with them and got them dialed in pretty good.
They are wife approved as well. Thanks JNA. Here is a quick cell phone pic I took Saturday morning. |

I have had n1 coilovers installed on my 05 sti for 3 months now. Ordered them from importimageracing. Called up ISC to get a proper preload setting and set them up to a dampening of 20 up front and 22 in the rear and left set like that until this date. First week driving on them..The front right strut is squeeking when compressing.....Called up Isc and got a new strut for free! Installed it, problem solved. I became a happy guy. Suddenly that the weather is getting colder...I begin to get a faint clunk in the left rear strut so I lifted the car up and checked the bolts to the hub and they were fine so I checked the strut hat bolts..Also fine. I torqued down the 19mm nut in the center...Clunk became worse as the days progressed.... Called up isc and without a problem had a new strut sent to me. I replaced the strut and now it is 2 weeks later and the rear right is clunking obnoxiously louder every day. I'm sorry to say but I am very pissed off and this should not be happening at all. I understand that after a full winter of driving a strut will begin to let go but not 3 weeks of cold weather and 2 struts gone. What is to happen once the warranty is over? Should we be informed about a defect or a problem with the valving and viscosity limits of the fluid ISC uses? The free replacement parts are great but what about the time of the labor to take out the suspension and swap struts and put them back in, especially now that it is 40 degrees and getting colder outside.
When I paid $955 for coilovers I did not have any expectations of them lasting beyond 2 years. But 3 months....Come on guys I have to drive this car every day to work. |

Wow that is pretty crazy. I have people that work here 3 years on the same set and we are in northern new england! Sounds like something is going on;
Shoot me a PM with your preload, spring rate, and whether you have pillow ball uppermounts in the rear I will be happy to look into it for you. Make sure there is nothing caked up in the upper mounts between the tophat and where the strut mounts to the vehicle. We have sold hundreds of sets, and I have never seen an issue like that happen in that timeframe unsolved, let alone 2 times. Something must be up.

I also noticed that the damper adjustment on the drivers front is a LOT harder to turn than the others... Is this something I should be worried about? It almost seems like its the adjuster binding and not turning smoothly, not something internally.
