History
Finally decided to start a member gallery thread to keep everything in one place so more people can see what I'm doing, not just the VIC guys.
Just a little history, bought the car brand new from Carter Subaru in August 2007. 128 miles on the odometer and almost back home in Vancouver, BC, Canada, I get pulled over. (No ticket) I only knew a few basic things about Subaru's when I got one since two of my friends had STI's. I mostly worked on Honda's back in the day. Anyways, slowly started tinkering with the car and within the first few weeks I was stage 2 with a handful of other mods***8230; then the track bug caught me. Started out by learning the limits of the car with auto-x. Later on, I got hooked on track days. In 2008 I put nearly 2,000 track km's on the car. I've stayed stage 2 forever but was still able to keep up with some quicker cars like 996 GT3's/911 turbos, R8's, turbo swapped sti's, and etc by focusing on suspension work, keeping the weight as low as possible and always wanting to improve my driving skills. Some photos of the car and some various events: However, there was a limit to how far that would take me. As I moved into more experienced lapping days I found the urge for more power. Ariel atoms, caterham v8's, z06's and other quick cars just blasting out of corners like I was nothing is quite frustrating haha. Because of this, at the end of the track season in 2008 I had some major plans for my car in the winter off season. I've always been taking a heavy course load at school so I didn't have much time to work on my car so progress was slow. It's hard to balance work/studying/getting good grades with hobbies and having fun but my education will definitely play a big role in my future, so although I would had loved to put more time into working on the car, time was really tight. That's the way to do it man, learn the limits of each setup, then move it on up to the man-sized power. Got track videos?

July 2009 – First Start
Video of my car at cold start. I don't think it's that loud compared to some other cars I've heard.
Excuse the messy engine bay as I had all the lines/intercooler piping/manifold, etc hooked up for a reverse manifold setup and I quickly rushed to put the stock turbo setup on in like 3 hours so it's a bit ugly in there. |

October 2009 – Got the Turbo Kit
So after waiting for a LONGGGGG time, I've finally received most of the kit minus the down pipe. In the process of putting it all in right now. Will try to hit the dyno soon.

October 2009 Fabrication
Mocking up the intercooler piping and test fitting everything before I heat wrap everything and insulate all the hoses/wires.
Dual dump tubes It's a super tight fit. Compressor housing almost touches tgv housing and the brake lines. Alternator clearance. Just clears the hood. And for fun... s300 vs. vf43 Last edited by alcoolaid; 12-20-2013 at 08:38 PM. |

Start of the 2010 Build
Last motor was basically a built bottom end with a turbo kit and stock heads running on the stock ecu and using a Cobb APV2 for engine management. Got it tuned by Dominic @ Maxwell Power and made 511whp/444wtq with 28psi boost on 94 octane and 70/30 meth/water injection.
Ever since the tune I've always wanted to run a standalone ecu just to have better drivability since the MAF was so big it wasn't that great for daily driving. Also, a lot of people kept bugging me to build the heads since obviously this was hindering my top end power. So, after picking up a Vi-Pec V88 standalone ECU and purchasing some built heads from a close friend, I decided it was time to quickly pull the motor out again before the track season season starts in March. Ever since my tune in October 2009 I've put about 5,000 hard miles on the car and everything is still great! Heads went to Maxwell Power for a clean up. Then went back down to Maxwell to let Dom work his magic. Couldn't wait to see the top-end gains @ the same boost level. Also looked forward to playing with the anti-lag. February 2010 Installing the built heads
Some photos for you guys. Swapped the heads. Got it all timed up. Just have to take the flywheel off, get it resurfaced, change the rear main seal, put the oil pan back on, put the turbo stuff on, intake manifold stuff and wiring harness then put the motor back in.
Also finally got the Vi-Pec working... 2 wires were mis-labeled on their wiring diagram so the DBW throttle plate wouldn't calibrate properly... Last edited by alcoolaid; 12-20-2013 at 08:47 PM. |

Vi-Pec Rotational Idle with Built Heads
Was street tuning it for a bit today before the dyno tune and played with the rotational/cyclic idle/cool down function which is part of the anti-lag.
