Default Swaybar replacement for PGT? Endlinks? Swaybar mounts? Subie Gal?

OK, I've got a question I'd like to toss out here before asking on Special Stage or emailing someone at the SCCA. Subie Gal, please chime in. The Production GT rules state:

Quote:
Section F.20:

Torsion bars: The diameter is free. Stock sway bars may be removed or replaced.
I have a 19-21mm adjustable rear swaybar that I'd like to put on because I'll be autocrossing the rally car and bringing it to track days. The swaybar came with metal endlinks with polyurethane bushings and larger swaybar mounts to accommodate the larger diameter of the swaybar.

Will it be legal to run the new mounts and endlinks in Production GT or does the above rule apply just to the swaybar itself? SCCA STS rules state that the swaybar can be upgraded but everyone also upgrades their mounts and endlinks as well. I've never seen anyone protested even at National Tour.

Here is a photo of the configuration I'd like to use:

mounts and endlinks should be fine to replace.

i dont bother as you'll just end up breaking them...

i use the stock ones and replace as needed...

but dont listen to me

you'll figure it out on your own

but yes, they're legal to update as i've understood it.

Sean I have that same bar on my RS. Something interesting you might like to know is I discovered that the solid metal links included with that kit cause the sway bar to "bind" during extreme transitions of the rear suspension. If you use the stock end links (or something like the MRT end links) it eliminates this problem.

Just a heads up!

Subie Gal - Thanks muchly! That's one of the gray area rules that parallels PGT and STS. They don't explicitly say you can do it but no one complains when you do.

Opie - I'm experiencing the same issues...I'll be upgrading to the Kartboy bearing-fitted endlinks from Gary's USTCC WRX. Thanks for the heads up!

FWIW, I believe most of the AWD rally guys Ive talked to dont run any sway bars at all. Mainly because they make the suspension less independent.

Yup yup...good call! I haven't made the decision yet whether or not I'll actually run with the bar since I haven't experienced the Moriss suspension yet. I'd like to have the beefy bar on the car because of the autocross and track days but still have the bar legal for ClubRally. If I decide not to run with the bar at all I'll simply disconnect the endlinks and then bolt the ends of the bar up out of the way to the chassis with the brackets I'm making.

and i have broken the endlinks on the front one...

fwiw???
a "bigger bar" is only going to hinder your turn in on gravel.

like i said, you'll figure it out

let me know if you have questions
