Default Gas gauge not working after LED light swap.

Before I get into the question I did make sure to search on more then one forum and I didn't find anything like the question I'm going to ask.

Car is a 2003 WRX

So now for my question. I payed $$ to have the lights changed in my gauge cluster because it was all burnt out and didn't want to risk messing any of the needles up(changed lights from green to red LEDs) . Anyway when I went and filled my car up with $15 worth of gas my gas gauge didn't move at all and I know I have around half a tank left but its only showing 1/4 full. What could be the problem? All the other gauges works fine.

The height of the needle base with respect to the gauge face may be off. Try to compare the height of the other working bases to see if it needs to be pulled out or pushed in slightly.

Most gauge needles attach to the gauge via interference fit, and if the height is off, it may not want to rotate freely. Here's an example (not oem tach cluster) of how the needle looks wrt to the gauge face
