Default SWIC Pet Thread... Yes, I searched for it and there wasn't one.

Well now, some of us like to leave our stinking kids at home and bring our smelly pets on our drives. God knows I've burnt more corn fuel up the hill with my dog than I have with any of you guys, or my kids. And since I'm the least original person I know, I figure I can't be the only one taking drives with my dog.

So here's a thread for SWIC pets... if you guys are interested. It doesn't have to just be dogs. If you ride with your chinchilla, post your pics. I searched for this thread already and I didn't find one for SWIC. I did, however, find a really good thread on photography that was magnificent: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=pets

Anyhow, here's my Ben riding shotgun on a solo Prescott run through Yarnell, back in January of this year and a couple other photos to get it started. Feel free to post with your pets as you wish.

That's right. Say, "Awwwwwww."

It'll be cool to see if this thread takes off. Just so you know Texas has a good pet thread. I figure we're just as good as them, if not better.

Our kids _are_ our smelly pets. But thankfully they don't really smell. We have four cats. As well as a tribe of ferals outside that love us (we kinda inherited them with the house).
None of them, however, are really thrilled with being in the car. Would that they were, though. At least our vet is close to the house.

I was going to post an animal thread the other day. But mine was about finding people that would be interested in fostering pets or people who were looking for a pet and hadn't checked what the local shelters have.

If anyone would be interested in fostering some dogs, there are plenty of groups that need help. If you're looking to foster just a specific breed, there is usually a group for all the major breeds.

And if you're looking for a dog/cat the shelters in Phoenix are over flowing and they are killing a bunch of pets every week

This facebook page posts a list of all the info you need to get started fostering and it also lists all the animals that are scheduled to be euthanized:
https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfAr...ref=ts&fref=ts

Foster information:
https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfAr...06541889369118

You can also contact me if you're looking for some info.

Regarding fostering, I just recently read something about the costs of fostering being tax-deductible. I don't have the info handy, but it's out there, if anyone is interested. I can try to hunt it down, if needed.

Every time I go to Petco or the AAWL shelter, I wish I were independently wealthy, with a huge house, and people other than me to clean litter boxes, so I could take all the kitties home. All the kitties.

(yes, I am a crazy cat lady, thankyouverymuch)

What kind of dog? I would check the fosters first and then the shelters. With a foster you can see what the dog's personality is like. And if you adopt from a foster that opens up a slot for them to save another dog.

Yeah it can be tax deductible depending on the group you're fostering for:

http://animalrights.about.com/od/com...Deductible.htm

I know this one lady who currently has like 20+ animals. She has like 6 Chihuahuas, 3 huskies, 5 birds, and 2 cats that are hers. And she is fostering about 3 other Chihuahuas, a rottweiler, an unknown Golden Retriever mix, Chow/Golden retriever mix, Australian Shepard(super smart dog), a blind dogo arentino(this dog is sooo sweet), pit bull mix, a huge bernese mountain dog that is soooooo gentle, and some other smaller dogs that I can't remember. So if any of those dogs interest anyone, let me know and I can send you some pics.

Ive always had mutts, so I'll probably be looking for another. I'm not in a position to take care of a dog right now, but hopefully in a few months I can actively look. With that being said, do you have a pic of the chow/golden retriever mix? I had a chow/lab mix and despite the numerous times she has pulled me into a lake, she was the best dog.

Rough Road Rescue is where I got Ben. They're based out of Queen Creek and from what they told me east valley rescues don't have much of a chance. They said people actually head out to the east side to abandon them and with less people out that way to adopt... well, its sad.

They have a FB page too.

No one has pics of their pets?

Tessa is a blue tick hound and was rescued also. Apparently the breeder couldn't make a good hunting dog or show dog out of her so he released her. Shes a great frisbee dog, just a bit mouthy at times.

This is Mac. He's a Lethal White Aussie. Rescue dog cause he's one of the 75% of his breed that end up deaf and/or blind. He lucked out with just being deaf.

This is Jarhead (for those of you that don't know, yes I am a Marine.)
