Possible Gold SAS warranty
I brought my 02 wrx into the dealer for warranty work at 59807 miles.
I was doing my 60k service and found quite a bit of metal chuncks inside the rear. They said no problem its covered for a direct replacement ( even tho i have an exhaust). Now i was given a Vehicle Coverage Inquiry. On the last page it says that the first owner had an SAS Gold Coverage. The coverage started on 9/21/02 goes to 9/21/09 or 100000 miles. Has a 100 dollar deductible. Does that transfer to me? Ill see if i can post the actual document I edited out the origional owners addy. And the contract number. |

No, you would have to "buy" the policy from the original owner. There is something like a $50.00 paperwork fee with Subaru. They have to sign it over to you because technically, they paid for it, and when you buy the car, you can "buy" the contract.
Once the vehicle gets sold from a dealer, that contract becomes null and void. If the previous owner was smart, they would get a refund back..... |

Well, that is possible, if you know him personally, or if he "left" any information in the car. Otherwise, technically, the dealer should not have given you his info (it might not even be current) . Deopending on the laws in your state, it might even be against the law. (it IS here.)

its to late to get it now. Basically what they would need to do is inspect the car for any issues (this includes your current one) That way they can see what state the vehicle is in. Then the contract will NOT go into effect until 30 days after the fact. It will not cover any pre-existing issues either noted on the inspection either.
Also if I'm not mistaken, the previous owner has one month to transfer his extended warranty to the new owner. By now I'm assuming its to late. It would also be identity theft/fraud to act like your the previous owner. The dealership should never have given you the information of the previous owner either. They would be liable and could be heavily fined for processing the claim. |
