I had a three way once. Was nice, but went back to the traditional two way, then to fully welded front and rear. The sound of howling tires with each turn is way sicker than any other option.

The rear LSD will give you that drift ability

Yep, took delivery 9/17. Is the same as a 2012.

Between this post and all this talk of cool and sick stuff, I only can come up with one response...

ps. Modena makes the only "sick" LSDs on the market, but only for 6spd and r180

The 6 speed will give you most of what you're looking for. One careful choice you will have is the decision between 50/50 and 35/65 power split. People who like a little rear bias will prefer the 6 speed. However, it can give you more oversteer than you want if your suspension setup is not set to understeer off throttle. You either accept being sideways or are forced to let off the throttle at times you may not want to. The rear bias does allow more input flexibility for correction. There's also the matter of gearing which can also influence your decision.

Is it more cost effective then a differential? and its an exact bolt on? how do you know if its a 35/65 split when you buy it?

That helps rotate the rear. But when you start lifting the inside wheel, no LSD means wheel spin.

From experience, my stiff suspension setup always lifts the inside rear wheel in tight turns. The worn out R180 LSD acts like an open diff when this happens because of the wheel lifting. The clutch LSD kind of needs the tires to be on the ground to work. In this case i don't have a DCCD controller on my 6spd, which would help make the rear LSD be more useful.

so just swaybars would be better to powerslide?

No. It would make the car more biased toward oversteer, but it will not allow you to power slide on throttle.

Here is a simple welded rear diff on a 2.5RS on the factory 2.5L NA engine with light mods. A front LSD alone wouldn't be capable of this.

Do you mean an LSD setup? Is that what your getting at? Or like a rear diff swap ala taking a jdm one like they do with 240s when making drift setups?

I have the carbonetic 1.5 front and 1.5 rear lsd and the 05 STi 6spd gearbox.

The gearbox alone was a huge upgrade over the 5spd.
The 05 has the 35/65 split. Where the 06+ had the 50/50

For the street and just playing around the 35/65 is pretty fun and can be adjusted with the dccd controller. On the track I have locked the dccd to 50/50 and with the diffs I was able to knock 2 seconds off my lap time. The nice part of this set up is the amount of grip I have. And the fact that I can let off a tad and feel the tires dig back in after loosing grip mid corner. (70mph 4 wheel drifts can be hairy)

In the future if I buy another Subaru replacing both diffs will be the 1st upgrade.

The oem front lsd even in the 6spd is crap. The only drawback is if you are going to drive it everyday. They can be louder, harder to steer more vibration. But my car was not stock to start with.

Oh and a welded diff would only be a nightmare for a DD!
