turbo rebuild information
Hello,
I have a td05-16G turbo out of a 2004 subaru forester. There is some shaft play, and I would like to get my hands on the turbo rebuild manual if possible to check into the specs, and rebuilding information. Does anyone have this manual. The FSM I have only says how to remove the turbo, and install it. Not work on it specifically. Thanks

There are several TD05-16G's and I'm not sure how much variance there is in the design and such. I wasn't able to find a manual but these should get your started:

Here is the part numbers on the turbo
Thanks, Ill have to find the rebuild parts. It doesnt look that fiddly, nor difficult to do. But given the wheels need to be balanced I may defer to a shop... Last edited by ydeardorff1; 04-28-2016 at 10:57 AM. |

At this point it will be cheaper and more effective to buy a used one or new one fyi.

This is a used one. LOL
Im taking it into the shop tomorrow to have it looked at. It might be fine still. But I would rather rebuild an OEM part that will be easily replaced, than some aftermarket companies turbo who may not be around in 10 years. at worst case Ill have to replace the cartridge viola new turbo... |
