I used to get so tired of why people would ask why I stuck with the TMIC on the racecar (especially at Hypermess). They're like but bro! all the heatsoak bro! 1. Not going to get much heatsoak when the slowest I'm going on track is like ~40 mph for maybe a couple seconds, 2. I had enough engine cooling issues on the stock radiator/turbo/etc. I didn't want to block any flow to that radiator after I went big turbo and Koyo rad. 3. The piping thing. My next racecar won't have to worry about intercooler piping lengths though.

Is there any point for a bigger TM on a stock turbo? I ask because the stocker is tiny compared to the PW or FMS...

On a stock VF turbo, yes. Though mainly once you have stage 2 parts on the car. Let's you run more boost and timing. A tune is recommended to take full advantage of an aftermarket top mount.

Also forgot to mention, and not sure if it holds true for WRXs, but a lot of LGT owners have had their stock TMIC's endtanks separate from the core at stage 2 boost levels. So in that sense it's also a reliability upgrade.

mrjcotten, you still down to fix my cousin's axle tonight? We were planning on dropping it by in a couple hours. Sorry can't text from here, my phone doesn't work in North Garden at my house.

Sounds like a iacv problem. A leak would most likely cause a high idle.

Reminds me, another reason I didn't want a top mount for racing was in case I tagged someone with my front end. No front mount up there means no worrying about breaking the intercooler or any piping.
