Question Anybody run TWEs?

I don't know anybody who actually has these headers.

I'm hoping somebody might have some comments, or if you're really cool, some pics and sound clips would kick tail

Thanks

Share the wealth! I'd like to hear clips/see vids if you have them. I will host them for you too, thanks!

Default TWE

I have the super stock TWE 4-1 header on my RS. They definitely make more power, especially noticable in 3-5 gear from 4000-6000RPM. The sound changes- less burble, a little more raspy, but still sounds really good. I have a v3 RT CAT, Stromung midpipe and Stromung dual-tip exhaust. I got the Stromung dual-tip because I thought it would be quieter, but my car is LOUD as hell. The RT cat sounds terrible, I am going to try a catco cat next.

Do a search on htt://www.rs25.com - there are a few threads, some with pictures and first impressions of the TWE header. The general consensus is that they are probably second only to the Cobb header, but this is unproven since nobody seems to have a dyno chart of the TWE (on a NA application).

I will say one more thing - the TWE header is a piece of art. It is beautiful. It is also less expensive than the Cobb header.

Thanks guys. I think I'll just go the Borla route after all. Can't be beat for the cost and stainless is very appealing to me. Also would like to keep the nice boxer sound

Do you mean the Randon Tech cat? Is the v3 the latest one released?? I think they might be designed for the stock headers (or close to it) if you're not liking the sound. I've heard that about other equal length systems- loss of low boxer tone, more raspy- which is why I asked the same of this one Glad I did.

Let me know if you switch cats and like the change- I've never heard of that other company.

I'm also thinking of just getting the Borla's. The COBB and TWE equal lenght probably makes more power, but probably not enough for the price you are paying. Nearly a 1k for the COBB.

Also, from what I heard on the I.Club, first impressions on the COBB were good...but nothing to be really excited about.

None of my friends actually believe me...when I told them the price of those headers. Jeez...Subaru performance parts sure do cost an arm and a leg.

It's a combination of the headers/cat/and most likely lack of a resonated mid-pipe. Welding a resonator in the mid-pipe will reduce the volume level, as I've done myself on my MRT exhaust, but it will not lower the tone of it.

MRT! I paid $340 for my MRT header/cat, and it makes as much power as the rest. They all make different *kinds* of power though. The Cobb has the best low-mid, the TWE the best high end, MRT a good combo of mid-high, and the Brullen seem to give a decent bump over the whole rpm band. Borlas? probably some mid range, with a little help on the top.

as always, YMMV

When did you buy these? Are they still available?

What if you were to add a glass pack?
