Short story.
Sold my car to a guy that I go to college at LSU with. He is kind of a tool and flipped his old Solara while driving drunk

It was totaled and he got a check for it.
He always liked my car and texted me if I planned to sell it.
I was in the process of hunting down a 2011 WRX so I was up for the notion. He offered me $4500 and it was a done deal.
Whenever I told people I sold it to him they said he was going to wreck it bc he was such a wreckless kid. I kept thinking otherwise, assuming he would have learned his lesson from flipping his old car.

9 days later I'm driving through campus and notice this

$2300 in damages apparently. wow

Bought a 91 240sx Coupe from a kid and his father back 2011, I didn't do much to it other then fix the current issues, and get it running right ( replaced that damn exhaust too) and then got bored of it so i put it out on the market for what I paid for it ( only running better)
fast forward to summer of 2012 Im at the local junkyard pick n pull place, and whom do I see? nothing besides my old 240 sitting on steel rims and without an engine or differential. looked around back, both rear quarter panels are busted up, and the trunk doesn't close... and underneath i see oil and dirt everywhere. musta blown his tran and smacked a few too many walls. Sad day. looking back I wouldn't have sold it so quickly.

This is exactly why I ALWAYS purchase extended warranty on any used car I get.

I sold my very custom Evo VIII after receiving an offer I couldn't refuse. It wasn't even for sale. I always missed and regretted selling it. Two years later, I catch wind that it's for sale. I was on it! Second chance at owning the car I loved...until I found out the guy bored it out, "upgraded" a bunch of stuff, and ran for a year WITHOUT A TUNE! WTF? I loved the car but poor girl didn't deserve to go down like that.

I bought a used two-tone brown Suburban once. One day I was sitting at a traffic light and the guy in the car in front of me jumped out, ran back and handed me a key . . . for my Suburban. It had been his parents truck and he still had a key for it on his key ring.

I havent but I found my friends old integra that he sold. I found it by looking for parts for my honda and found someone selling a bunch of parts from my friends old car. Turns out it was someone that had stolen the car and was trying to part it out. Needless to say that actually owner of the car got the car and all his parts back.

Laying in a shoe box somewhere is a picture of me standing next to my 99 2.5RS but about two years after I traded it in. Whoever had bought it was spectating at an auto-x I was competing in. Randomness.

Not me but a friend, had a Scion TC (I know...) boosted at 8psi with stock internals. He ragged it out and then took off the turbo and sold it to carmax. Another friend of mine bought said Scion TC not knowing it was boosted at one point and just has a slow tc with lots of wear and tear.

Friend number 1 finds it funny to look at his car now and see how slow and ragged it is.

I traded my Ferrari red 89 MR2 SC for my current 02 WRX. That car was gorgeous, everything worked perfectly, and it's probably the last one on earth. Some friends at work saw it driving around a few towns over about a month ago. My WRX is a lot faster, more practical, and probably more reliable, but nothing will ever be as much fun as that MR2 with the top off on a bright sunny day.

I got 35mpg to boot

ah! I always wished i could find my 95 F150! I always told myself id buy it back if i had money available! I even told the guy i sold it to that id buy it back if he decided to sell it in a couple years. I just couldnt afford the MPG at the time...11 MPG at $4.00/gallon?? ugh.

Id still buy it back! I loved that thing.

Had a 97 Civic. I wrecked it and sold it to someone a in New York for parts. A couple years later I meet this girl and we go back to her place and I see this civic parked in her neighborhood with the same exhaust and front lip that I had on it. I keep looking around and the blemishes to the paint are there. The interior has the Boston Acoustic tweeters mounted to the door and it still has the the crappy shift knob and e-brake handle cover. I couldnt believe that someone had taken the time to fix this crap and sell it.

I sold my ION Redline to buy my WRX. An idiot kid and his brother came in the middle of a storm at night, never test drove it, and then bought it. I kept the car immaculate. I carefully painted the wheels graphite, painted the headlight housings, and got the blue Recaros nearly perfect. When I sold that car, it was immaculate. 6 months later, I see it on my college campus. Curbed wheels, flaking paint, hazed headlamps, Pens stickers all over, and the blue Recaros were stained all over. Very disappointing, but not at all surprising considering the buyers.

Sold my Explorer to the local pick n pull, after a month long sit on craigslist with a blown motor(timing chain snapped, and no replacements readily available, according to the shop it was at) fast forward about 8months on NYE driving on the highway, see it merging on in front of me, same stickers on the rear glass, they body filled the badly dented fender.

Little bummed I didn't look a little harder for a motor, because damn that thing was a tank.

I saw my old '84 300ZX driving down the road in my hometown a few years after I sold it. It was still sporting the horrible body work I did back in high school, primer and all.
