Default STI..how's your gas mileage?? mine sucks

Sti owners, could you please let me know how your mileage is? I am getting only 240 miles per gallon on average driving both city and highway.
I have read that the cars are set up really rich. Someone mentioned that going with the Vishnu stage 1 will not only give you extra horse power but will also give you better fuel mileage. Is this claim true?? It sounds too good to be true. How can you get 60-80 hp more and get better mileage.
Anyone know how much better mileage you would get???
Cheers

Do a search. There are MANY threads on STI gas mileage. Avg is ~15-18 city & ~24 hwy.

The car is setup very rich and leaning it out in certain areas can help both power and MPG. However, the biggest thing if you want decent MPG is to simply keep out of boost as much as possiable and keep the RPM's low. So it's not insane to get more power & MPG, but you must make sure it is tuned well or else you could wind up running too lean & blow the motor. With that said Shiv is very good at what he does and when it is available it will likely be very nice. FWIW Stage 0 WRX's tend to get better MPG than a stock WRX and put out more power too. The Stage 2 WRX's tended to get roughly the same MPG as a stock WRX.

I am getting around 300 miles per tank if driven easy with some highway time. I am shifting at 3000, but once you start to get into it, mpg go straight down the drain. I am averaging about 20 mpg, a little fun and a little not so fun. Expecially with the price of gas a little more not so fun lately.

I'm getting about 10 mpg on this current tank around town. I have rarely seen over 180 miles before the fuel light comes on. The most I ever remember seeing is 65 miles to a quarter of a tank. That was highway driving.

I really don't drive much highway but around town I am getting 17-18mpg.

One thing that is really killing me is the damn engine is drinking oil (as of today it's halfway between L and F on the dipstick) I def. need to put some oil in it and then go to the dealer and ask whats up . I have owned it for one month and have yet to add oil (mods are TurboXS Stealthback, Perrin Intake)

240 MPG is not bad at all, why ya complaining? I never even came close to that figure in the 6500 mile I have on my STi. This is a performance car and isn't meant for fuel economy. Maybe trade the STi in on a Honda Civic or something? They have the hybrid car available too, gas/electric!

The car drinking a bit of oil is going to be normal. My '02 WRX did drink about 1qt in 2,000 miles when it was brand new and calmed down to about 1/2 qt every 5,000 miles after it was broken in.

I'm certainly not complaining about the gas mileage, gas is cheap for us.

If you get any more than 20 mpg, you are driving the wrong car.

Wow! Never thought to check the oil so soon. Checking tonite.

Getting about 17-18 mpg with mostly city driving. Some freeway driving mixed in bumps me up to 20mpg. The way I feel about it is, it's way cheaper than nitrous at $4/lb. You go thru a 10lb bottle in no time.

I usually get 19 - 20 mpg. Mixed city and highway. I like to "put the pedal to the metal" once in a while and I have lots of hills were I live. The low fuel light usually comes on at 240 - 260 miles. I usually put about 12 - 13 gallons on fill up. I noticed slightly better gas mileage with Sunoco Ultra 94. Give it a try.

When I got my WRX I checked the oil soon as I got home and have religiously check it every time I get gas. I changed my oil in my original motor at 500mi. Then at 2000mi. Oil is the life blood of your engine take care of it well.

As far as consumption....most manufacture's limits on oil consumption are somewhere around 1qt./1000mi. before they even think about pulling a motor or replacing rings etc...

Getting 20-24, mostly highway driving.

I'll surely get down to 16-18 after this lousy break-in period is over. Just a few miles to go....
