I'm looking at buying new wheels/tires/springs for my wagon and it will all be on by next spring. I am definitely going to do prodrive springs with stock struts for now.
I want to buy Rota Torques in 17x8 +48 with a 235/40/17 Kumho Ecsta SPT. Do you think i'd be rubbing/cutting it close? Would i need to fender roll or should i just look into 17x7.5 +48 with 225/45? I'd also plan on getting it aligned at the specs prodrive suggests Front Camber 1° 15" Tracking 0° 02" (0.2mm) toe in each wheel Rear Tracking 0° 01" (0.1mm) toe in each wheel Thanks! Hello.
Simple question, can I use 17x7 ET45 wheels with my 225/45/17 tyres in my 2002 (bugeye) WRX Wagon? Reason for not to buy 17x7.5 ET?? wheels is that this specific model is just something I would like to have.. Please help. Thanks! |

Impossible to answer without a specific tire, but most likely for most standard street tires, you are ok.

Sometimes you can get away with removing the rear fender trim strip. Sometimes you need to do a little fender rolling.

blah, I have done as much research as I could and I dont think I will have a problem, BUT it is time to ask the experts!
I am getting a great deal on a set of 17x8 Ultraleggeras. My setup: 2005 WRX Wagon All stock except the Swift Sport Springs on stock struts wheels I can get OZ Ultraleggera 17x8 +48 with 225 45 17 tiresIf i dont roll im sure it will rub, what if I do roll? I test fit them and it look like the front was gunna be an issue What do you experts say? |

The front looks like it sticks out. But once you put it on the ground, it is pretty flush. Also, you will want to crank in some negative camber to help with handling. I run 17x8 +45 RPF-1 with 235/40R17 Toyo R888 and I have no clearance problems... I jump my car over anything I can find. I am lowered on JIC coilovers. My next tires will be 245/35R17 and by my measurements, they should fit with no problems.

Go drive it around the block. If they are still sticking out, you need more negative camber.

Autox only, but no rubbing. I don't have rolled fenders.
06 Wagon Koni inserts w/ RCE Wagon Springs Stock Top Hat, soon to be GroupN 235/40 - 17 Falken RT615 Azenis Black Racing ProN1 17x7.5 +48 before these tires I had 225/45 - 17 Cooper Zeon 2XS, which on the car were without a doubt wider and taller than the Azenis and I had no rubbing issues. The Azenis clear the rear strut with a gap 2 mm wider than the Coopers on the same wheels. I'm sure with lots of weight and big woops on the highway I would get some rubbing, but they aren't used there so no worries. |
