Default RandomRacing's LR 2011 WRX

Figure it's about time I start a thread for my red WRX My goal is to have a great DD that can take a couple track and autocross days a year.

I've been in the Subaru family since 2007 when I bought my 2001 2.5 RS sedan at a used car dealership. I love that thing and knew I'd always want to own a Subaru. After 150,000+ miles hit, I decided it was time to start looking for a new Suby. I purchased it right after the Tsunami hit in March 2011 when I made an visit to the local Subaru dealer. Turns out there was one WRX coming to MD, which happened to be the exact combo I was looking for - a red limited sedan. The rest, as they say, is history.

Yeah I definitely will. I didn't read anything negative about them, so I decided to bite the bullet and give them a shot! I had Tein SSP on my old RS and those were too bouncy, looking for something more DD oriented.

Also - just ordered the Torqued Performance stage 1 maps, heard they were awesome, lots of good reviews on here and 3gwrx.

The tires are 255/35/18 RE-01R, they rub in the back. I'm going to have to roll the rears for sure.

Thanks guys!

Just flashed to the Torqued Performance Stage 1 93 tune... WOW what a difference. No more bog feeling just after 3k, just pulls hard ~17.5 psi to redline. I would recommend the tune to anyone!

Latest mods, the parts are coming in! (excuse the bad iPhone quality)

Horrible pic that doesn't do the exhaust justice. First 2011+ Turbo XS sedan exhaust!

KW v1s ready to go on

Ha! I will, they are going on Sunday. Thinking about dropping it to around 1 finger gap all around, so around 1 or 1.5 inches.

KWs are installed!

I really, really like these coilovers. The build quality is great. It was a slight pain swapping the top hats from stock to these, but nothing too difficult. I think the stance is PERFECT!

The car rides great. Stiffer than stock, but really not any bumpier. You feel the small road imperfections, but it doesn't jolt you around by any means. I'd say they are perfect for a DD that's looking for a lower ride height and quality dampening.

Interested to hear why you chose the V1 as well. I haven't heard much about the ST coilovers since they were introduced, but I thought they were basically KW V1 and made in the same facility for a little bit less $.

My guess is that (like me), he wasn't able to find ST's for the 2008+ since I don't think they're made yet. I've looked and even ST's website only lists an alignment kit for the 08s and up.

Your stance is great! I'm in a heated internal debate between H&Rs and KW v1s.

Also, please please please (haha) get a video up on your exhaust. I'm very excited for another option since Cobb has been taking so long!

I chose V1s for a few reasons. I didn't need adjustable dampening (had it on my old Teins, adjusted once, never had to after that). I've heard mixed reviews on BCs, mainly about the bounciness (which I can't stand, my Teins were also like this).

I read a few reviews (this one was the best http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1973465), consulted the guys at Racecomp engineering (recommended them), and decided to bite the bullet!

I haven't heard of ST coilovers myself, but even if they are made in the same factory, the dampening and spring rates are unlikely to be the same. I knew these had a DD friendly pairing.

The car sits with around 1 or 1/2 finger gap all around. No problem over speed bumps! It doesn't feel overly stiff, just tightened up. The low profile tires on 18's make the ride stiffer than anything else I think. But the body roll is gone! Anyways, those are my impressions.

Alright, gonna try to get an exhaust video up later. It'll be from the meh iPhone, but better than nothing! It's really deep, haven't heard many this deep before. I love it.
