Default Fuel gushing out during fuel filter change

I've never had this happen before. But, as soon as i took off the inlet fuel line of the filter, fuel was constantly gushing out for a few seconds until I put it on the new filter. I even had the gas cap off the relieve pressure. Could this mean something bad? or am I looking to deep into it?

I've noticed prior to the filter change my warmup idle was at 1200, now at 800 for tonight (just changed it 45 mins ago).

Did you depressurise the fuel system before removing the filter?
