i wouldn't fully discount the mormon thing but N end and SE are much better

timber line has a reputation for being a school of haves and have-mores (coughdrugscough) which can also cause issues

i have been here 15 years i would only live in SE, NE or the north end east of 28th

that said you can get a LOT more house for the $$ south of the freeway and east maple grove

Well I can weigh in here, I guess.

I have lived here for 33 years.
I attended Capital high school.
I live in Meridian with my family of 5 (3 small kids).

I have never had any issue with not being LDS. I have several friends that are LDS, but they have never even brought that up unless I asked something specific about it.

With that said, the LDS factor will become an issue if:
* you have an interest in local politics
* you make public displays of your non-LDS faith
* you go looking for conflict

Basically its a non-issue unless you make it an issue. You may get an occasional missionary at your door, but that could be said for Hari Krishnas, Jahova witnesses, Yummy Meats Salesman, etc.

I constantly get people here trying to sell me meat and cleaning agents. The last two were from North Carolina and were selling jugs of something called "bubba cleaner" and I swear to god the spray bottle had a monocolor picture of a black man with an afro.

Being LDS, I will say that if you come here looking to find imperfections in the LDS members, you will find them. They have opinions just like you do. There are a ton more LDS per capita here in the west than back east, so you will run into them, with out a doubt. I sure hope that won't be an inconvenience for you and your family. I'm not offended by your comment, but it does urk me when someone (non-lds) judges an entire faith of 13 million members based on what they have seen a few LDS people say or do, or even more so of what they've heard about the "mormons".

Oh I'm not placing any judgements on any faith and I'm not looking for anything other then good neighbors. I simply have read and heard rumors of some LDS giving non-LDS a hard time, and I've seen it often enough to raise a flag. I'm not sure about what you mean "I'm going to run into them". I'm not trying to avoid meeting them. The question is simply posed because I wonder if they will avoid meeting me and my family. Now I'm an adult and I have tough skin so if something like that were to happen to me I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. However, the last thing I need is to move into an area where my children are not treated properly simply because they do not attend the same church, even though we are all on the same page about what's right and wrong in general in life.

Also, it could be any faith (or non-faith) that I would pose this question about if I had reason to ask. If I read that the Jewish community in Boise doesn't like outsiders and treats them like outcasts I would ask if it were true about them. It could be about Irish, Buddhists, people that walk their dogs, Honda owners, people against poor grammar, whatever, if there were reason to ask I would ask.

For the record, I've found more reason to suspect that if there are incidents they are isolated and I shouldn't be very concerned. I do find one thing odd though, and it's a rhetorical question. How could both Mitt Romney and Harry Reid be part of the same church? I would think you couldn't be more politically opposite of one another.

I've lived here 10 years, and have heard these LDS concerns before. I've lived in the north end, NE, SE, West and now Southwest Boise and have never had any issues with LDS neighbors. This isn't Utah or SE Idaho, you're going to have a much higher chance of having a redneck neighbor problem than an LDS one.

Agreed, I have several LDS friends that I have known since high school, good people, never seen/heard any issues first hand. Have had issues with rednecks and loud exhausts at 1am though...

Also, if ccr's and neighborhood associations are not your thing, work with your realtor. In Meridian it is really popular to complain about property taxes then pay huge fees to associations that are way more big brother than government will ever be. Find yourself in such a neighborhood at your own peril. Unless you're into voluntary taxation and micromanagement by your neighbors. In my opinion 90% of gripes about who is or isn't LDS come down to misguided attributions about neighborhood politics. The fact that some neighbors commune together creates particular alignments, regardless of what church that communion is at. LDS vs non-LDS is a non-issue.

I appreciate all the input from everyone. I'm pretty reassured it's not an issue. Honestly I'm not trying to avoid any particular group, I'm only trying to avoid being the outcast family of the neighborhood if that were even possible. I could care less if all my neighbors were LDS so long as we all treat each other like neighbors normally would. Like I said I only bring this topic up because I've heard rumors and I'd rather here from you locals what the truth of the matter is.

Again, thanks for all the input.

LDS make fine neighbors and friends, but I've seen way too many instances of 'You're not with the church, we can't hire you."

I'm pretty sure the 04 rex should fit. I don't need the adapter needed for the MY so I think we're OK.

Is this the v1 or 2?

BIP, you have a # I could reach you at?

i went to meridian hs (grad 1999) and this was a huge issue for me. i was in a few honors classes and they were predominantly filled with lds people (one was 30lds out of 32 people!). when we would get into groups the lds kids would almost shun me. they would plan group schedule around seminary knowing i wasnt going to be there. it was mostly the up tight girls. i have no problem with most lds people; in fact several of my good friends to this day are lds. but the way that group of kids acted in hs was a huge turn off for me against not only them but organized religion in general.

point of my rant is meridian is the worst pace you could sent your kids if this is a concern imo
