Legacy 1991 Legacy SS project car in Portland, OR

SOLD.

Please read the entire ad before contacting me.
If you still have questions once you are done, PM me.
If you prefer to talk on the phone, PM me your phone number.

1991 Subaru Legacy SS (Sport Sedan) with 164,281 miles. Clean Oregon title in my name.
This is a running, driving project car. I'm not parting it out.
If you are looking for something you can use immediately as a daily driver, this is not the car for you.
I'm not interested in trades. Cash only, no payments. Price is negotiable.
NO RUST! Car was born in Japan, lived in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, and finally Oregon.

The Good.
EJ22T. UNMODIFIED. Closed deck, oil cooler, oil squirters for the pistons.
Rear differential 3.90 R160 VLSD (Viscous Limited Slip Differential)
Extensive service records, right back to the original owner. I even have the original window sticker.
Almost a full tank of Chevron 91 octane.
Oregon Crater Lake plate good until September 2010. I have the emission test results from the last renewal, and it passed with flying colors. No reason it won't again.

Highlights of the service records.
I can't list everything, but I have a binder full of receipts going back to 1991.

New water pump, thermostat, timing belt, and front seal installed by Isa's Auto Service on 11/15/2005 $433.00
Timing belt, thermostat, and coolant hoses replaced by Mountain Tech on 01/10/2007 $484.55
Used radiator installed by Mountain Tech on 1/19/2007 $175.00
Reman. alternator installed by Mountain Tech on 03/20/2007 $182.00
New alternator from United Battery 03/13/2008 $123.95 with lifetime warranty
Reman. OEM Subaru front CV axle replaced by Les Schwab on 10/11/2008 $177.09
Front brake pads replaced by Gresham Auto Repair on 08/14/2008 $95.00

The following are the parts I have replaced from 164,252 - 164,281 (04/07/2010 - 06/08/2010)
New NGK spark plugs and spark plug wires $51.00
All new OEM Subaru Genuine Parts: air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, various pcv hoses and fittings $142.25
Oil change using Valvoline 10W30. Fumoto oil drain valve installed $20.65
Used parts from various Pull-A-Part wrecking yards: carpet, front grille, sunvisors, gas cap, oil cap, exterior and interior trim. $???.??
All fuel lines replaced with Gates multi-fuel injection hose from NAPA $16.60
Cracked rubber inlet elbow on turbo replaced with un-cracked used one with 110,000 miles $15.00
Interstate Mega-Tron II reconditioned battery from Battery Specialists on Powell Blvd. $32.00 with one year warranty
MAF cleaned with proper MAF cleaner.

The Bad.
Car has been in two accidents - 01/2001 and 08/2001. The car was not totaled, title is still clean. All damage was professionally repaired, and I have all the receipts and records.
Clear coat from re-spray is peeling in some spots, and there is orange peel in others. The paint looks like it is 20 years old. Oh wait, it is.
Exhaust heat shields rattle. This is annoying, but doesn't affect anything.
Trunk release handle came off. Trunk release still works if you pull on the metal lever.

What needs to be fixed.
Needs a sunroof, a sunroof plug to be fabricated and installed, or a patch panel welded into the sunroof hole. The sunroof leaked like crazy when I bought it, and I got rid of it since my plan was to have the hole filled in. The interior is now completely dry. There are still some mold stains on the front seats. The sunroof is currently covered, and the car is stored in my car port.

Car pulls to the right. I took it in to The Line Up Shop to be aligned, and it could not be aligned due to the following problems: right lower control arm is bent, inner tie rods are worn and need to be replaced, boot on left side tie rod needs to be replaced. Their quote was just over $500, but all of these parts can be sourced from a wrecking yard and installed in your garage for a lot less money. When I bought the car, the previous owner didn't disclose that someone had obviously hit a curb and damaged the control arm.

Paint on the wheels is peeling, curbing, scratches, etc. The tires are Federal Formoza FD1s with a good amount of tread left.

Rear brakes should be done soon. One side is dragging. Car still brakes fine, but this was next on my list of maintenance.

Fog lights need some new bulbs.

What's missing.
Interior trim around back windows.
Headliner.
Power antenna.

Price drop - $900 or best offer. Lowballers will be ignored.

You're probably going to have to be negotiable on price but that doesn't look too bad to me...
Bump for an honest seller.

I'm flexible on the price. It's not that bad, I just wish I had known all of the problems it has when I bought it. I am ready and willing to answer any and all questions about the car, nothing to hide. I'm going to lose money on this no matter what, but at least my conscience will be clear. Thanks for the bump.

I can't part it out. I rent my place , and I'm not allowed to have any cars on the property that aren't running and driving. But if someone else wants to buy it and part it out...

Friday bump. Willing to trade for cash.

Few more issues I forgot to mention: The exhaust heat shields rattle. Annoying, but it doesn't affect anything. Plastic handle for the trunk release popped off, but handle is intact, and trunk release still works.

I've seen EJ22T swaps listed for $900 - $1000...

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...00&postcount=1

http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=44128

...you get a whole car to part out. Sell the VLSD to a Datsun guy, sell the rebuilt 4EAT to someone, sell the front clip and trunk with spoiler, and you are well on your way to an affordable EJ22T swap.

Bump. Second sunny day in a row in Portland, great for test driving a car with a big hole in the roof.

Oh wait, here's a complete sunroof assembly to fill that hole.

Payday bump. I'd like to sell the car this weekend so I can take it off my insurance.

If you don't have cash, I'll take a credit card through PayPal.

If I only had a bigger garage. It's worth buying just to pull the motor and drop it into my WRX, the 2.2T is one of Subaru's best.

free bump
