Impreza WRX Help With Intake Silencer Replacement!

Hello...I recently removed the intake silencer from my 2004 WRX. I am planning to hack off the silencer so that air travels more efficient through it. I am not worried about sound. Do you recommend leaving the bottom part where I hacked open so that air from the fender can get through it, or should I duct tape it so that air goes only straight from the "ram air" into the CAI. Thanks!

Does the CAI suck air in from the "ram air" AND fender too? If so, is it best just to seal off the space around the holes so that air does not leak out? Air would then be able to be sucked in from both places then...

No need to duct tape it.
