So no way to make a call to another department? This is safer before experimenting on a WRX from the dealer lot to do a test, blowing it's engine and then having to practically give it away because the dealer needs information and is getting the wrong one from the reps as the reps don't know either but if blowing a motor is what it takes, then so be it.

My hose was left off (amongst other things gone wrong), got a busted ringland and now the dealer won't fix it from their pocket because the rep is giving contradicting info. I got Perrin, Cobb, and Crawford stating how bad is to do so but the rep says otherwise. This is my 7th Sooby and have a good history with the dealer but this incident is leaving a bad in my mouth.

If you can't, thanks anyway!

SOA Blog,

I have recently ordered a 2011 STI hatchback in OBS in the month of January. I was told my car should be here month of April. My concern here is that my car is going to have abnormal levels of radiation. I would like to know if SOA is doing any sort of quality control checks and radiation monitoring once the cars get to the US. I spoke with a customer service representative this morning about the issue and she said first that the plants are not close to the radiation and areas where damage was the highest. I told her that was not my concern becuase some of that radiation has already been found in the United States, thus leaving the only option for the country of Japan as a whole, to be saturated by now with abnormal levels. What she told me was that the Japanese Gov is the one regulating the testing of exported cars. This is great and all but I feel as though that is a very low priority over there, as it should be. However, it SHOULD NOT be a low priority over here in the United States. How can we be sure that SUBARU OF AMERICA, not just the very broad very unsubstantiated statement of "Japan is regulating that", is taking care of its US customers? Thanks for your time in answering this question.

Hi - this is also being monitored by US Customs Border Protection as is the case with all international shipping to the US.

SOA Blog: Two Questions:

1) Any plans to offer the 5-door STI hatchback in a Limited Trim package? Leather is a heck of a lot easier to keep clean and live with than cloth seats. I personally would NEVER purchase a Subaru with cloth seats or light colored leather interiors. I like the luxury look and feel of black leather, plus I can do lots of outdoors stuff, get dirty, and easily clean the interior without worrying about staining the seats.

2) Any plans to update the navigation system that is used in the current Subaru models? The current one works great and all (have one in my '09 FXT Limited), but it would be nice to have features like the Sirius Travel Link (weather maps/forecasts, traffic maps, etc), and the ability to upload contracts from an iPhone to the navigation.

.

I'm gonna guess you're gonna get a whole lot of "We don't comment on planned or made up future product"

But you can try

Are you able to pass along that there is some interest in a STI (5-door hatch) Limited model, and also interest in features like Sirius Travel Link for the Navigation.

The product guys get lots of feedback from various places - this site being one of them, but the key to anything is; wether it is legal, practical and how many people 'in total' want something and how much they are prepared to pay vs how much it costs.

Thanks . This is the Sirius Travel Link feature that is coming in navigation systems from several automakers:

The weather map would be really nice to have for road trips, hiking trips, and other outdoor adventures. Could see if a thunderstorm or snow is blowing in before setting out.

I like a nice touch of luxury with my Subaru AWD turbo performance.

SOA Blog,

Motor Trend says the Legacy GTk concept was well-received. What say you? (Please note I'm not asking about future product here, only SOA's take on the public response to the concept. I realize it's not necessarily an indicator of production potential.)

I second this though I'd prefer a system with at least traffic info that doesn't require a subscription service as money is very tight.

SOA Blog, my question for you is why does only the Tribeca offer a rear entertainment system for the kids but not any of the other models as Subaru is supposed to be a great family vehicle company? I think it should be available on ALL models, preferably with Blu-Ray capability (Doesn't need HD screen, simply just playback capability) so it is compatible with my entire movie library. Also I see Outback can play DVDs on equipped vehicles, but without rear screens (headrest screens, fold down screens, etc) what's the point? Lastly, could you please AT LEAST update the rear-entertainment system to be operable by in dash and/or on-player controls? It sucks to not be able to start a movie when the kids misplace the remote or the battery dies for the billionth time. Thanks!!

SOA Blog,

I was planning on purchasing either a 2011 WRX or STI within the next couple months. Long story short, I need to have my car around August/September. My question is when will orders stop being taken for the current model year. I understand you probably can't give me an exact date, but any help or tips on what month or timeframe would be very helpful to me. The ideal situation for me would be ordering the car in mid-July and with the wait being around 8 weeks that would place the car arriving in September which is what I need. I'm trying to plan everything out right now, but I'm worried the cut-off will happen before July and it is to late for me to order one, and I can't wait until October/November to get the 2012s. Once again I beg you just for a hint. Thanks in advance.

- Eric

Question My2012

Went in to test drive an Outback today... The salesman said that he can't place any new Outback orders. He said SOA has stopped taking '11 orders and is not yet ready to take '12 orders. Furthermore, the salesman said SOA wants to release all '12 models in the month of June and this is the first attempt by any automaker to do this.

SOA Blog, can you comment on ordering and the timing, is it accurate?

SOA Blog:
In the 2012 Impreza's model comparison on subaru.com, it lists one of features of the Premium trim model as "Projector beam headlights". Can you clarify if they are projectors or reflectors? There seems to be some confusion. Thank you.

Thanks for bringing this up! I'm crossing my fingers that the projector headlights simply weren't ready in time for the auto show. The reflectors just don't do the sexy new design justice.

Not sure if this is the same link, but it does say that they're available when comparing to other cars:

They are not projector beam lights.
