^^^ why not clock the turbo so you don't have the charge pipe making such a long loop to the front?

As for the "can I grind this off my intake manifold" thing i would grind it in a second and not look back. Not like your risking a hard to replace/find part. But I also tend to lean towards cutting/grinding on your car. Lol

The picture doesnt do it justice. The way I went only added 12in of pipe. I couldnt clock the turbo without buying braided oil line and power steering line. Also I recirc the bov, so a pipe was needed close turbo inlet

It takes some getting used to, but you learn to turn while moving. I rebuilt the rack, cut out the piston, welded the quil and sealed it up packed with grease

Great thread! working on my mani flip currently, making some progress.

v7 swap

Ported TGV's and had them and mani coated.
TB coolant bypass
Extended the tps wires...couldn't get enough length from de-looming to be comfortable with.
Bent the oem fuel lines some and cut off the mounting points on the underside.
Jdm mani had a plug in back so I took that out and using for brake booster.
Tapped hole for stock fpr vacuum line so it fits like stock.
Relocated purge valve.
Ordered 07 sti alternator, only $50 shipped on ebay.
Haven't figured out what to do with PCV yet.

I've been following this thread for a while and I finally worked on my version of "reversed intake". I am an AutoX driver and wanted to reduce the amount of piping to help me spool up quicker. I am running a GTX3076 and put down about 420 AWHP in the previous config. There were a couple changes during this project so whatever difference I see will be a result of all the changes.
New engine wiring harness.
New "forward facing" intake
Cleaned injectors (ID1000)
Smaller hot side for turbo (from a 0.82 to a 0.63)

Anyway.. Here is before and after pictures. Going to get the intake piping fabbed up this week. Then we will know if this intake can flow enough to keep me happy or if I wasted 8 hours putting this together!

Dont sell your .82 just yet, i suspect youll be going back to it, unless your goals just to move peak torque up in the powerband. I think youll loose a good bit of that 420 with it.

and i see your running your boost controller off an intake port, thought that was a nono

edit for funk

^^^ thanks for quoting the post directly above you with all the pics....

3dglasses, that piping off the turbo is a mile long, i would have stayed with the sti manifold so you could shorten the piping by going under the manifold and then reverse it to shorten the cold side also by going down where your overflow tank is. Or make a dual Pass IC and both pipes go down the passenger side.

Moving the torque down the band is the idea, but I know I'll loose some top end but how much is the question!? We will see.
The car has always had the EBC running off the intake.

That is the kit the car came with and I know it is not optimal. I agree about going through the overflow tanks area as well. I'm looking at some options that are within the budget, but AutoX season starts 8/20 here and I don't have much time left.
