REX exhaust on my RS, what will happen?
I already have it on my car and love it. It looks and sounds great, feels even better.
My question is wil there be any sort of problem in the future with the back pressure muffler? That is my question to all of you who know about this. Thanks Billy

The WRX muffler should have less backpressure than an RS muffler and backpressure is NOT A GOOD THING...
it's been said before, but it keeps coming back so I'm going to try to quell this myth... it's not quite what you asked, but it's close enough... exhaust gas velocity increases torque and horsepower... backpressure reduces both. The myth comes from larger "high-flow" exhaust systems can rob an engine of power... y? because the sudden cooling of the gases and the relatively small amount of exhaust thru a large pipe makes thing move slowly... this really makes it's own backpressure. Appropriately sized tubing w/ a good high-flow muffler(like magnaflow) will give you the best results... to answer the question, the WRX muffler should flow better than the RS exhaust(it's got larger tubing and seems to be less restrictive), and therefore create less backpressure and more power and this should cause exactly 0 problems |
