205/50 R17 and 225/45 R17 on 07 STI?
ok,
I recently ran into a guy who was selling his Porsche winter tires. The front 2 was 205/50 R17 and the back two was 225/45 R17. The tire was Dunlop winter sport M2. I'm planing on buying some 17"x7.5" winter rims to fit the STI bolt pattern Here are my questions: 1) Can i fit 205/50 R17 on 17"x7.5"?, If so, who make a 17"x7.5" that fits an 07 STI? 2) Can i fit 225/45 R17 on 17"x7.5"? 3) Is there a problem or am i damaging my car by running two different size tires? i would really appreciate some help here. thanks

Normally, you don't want to mix sizes...but...Those tires are within .3" in circumference...
Someone can chime in as to what the factory specs are so you don't destroy your diff.... Why not buy 4 17 x 7" wheels? As long as their just snow tires, probably not a big deal staggering the widths like that...maybe handle a little strangely, but I assume you'll be driving carefully in the snow () |

And, even though the specs say those tires are close, in reality they may not be. The manual says to keep tires within 1/4" in circumference. For example, in a Blizzack you are looking at 25 vs 25.2 in diameter, which is over 6/10ths of an inch difference in circumference. |
