Slapped my Nameless muffler delete on last night. VERY pleased.....No drone at all with normal driving. Barely hear it. Run through the revs a bit and its a nice deep sound...sounds nice at idle as well.

On flats, I shift at 2k. Curse around town in 4th at 50 kmh/30 mph.

You shift at 2k? I feel like you would be losing mpg.

This all depends on how your car is tuned and how fast you are accelerating.

I generally shift at 2.5-2.8k, enough that on the next gear it doesn't bog hard.

I generally stay in 3rd going 30 as 4th is way to slow to try to make a move quickly.

Usually shift to 5th at 45mph on normal driving. I think the manual says 46 or 47 is the optimal speed to shift to 5th.

On an unrelated note. What is the optimal RPM range to shift at for optimal fun?

My Rallitek tune with the AP has really made this car much more enjoyable.

I do shift at 2k as well. As long as your not in a hurry to get anywhere and take your time shifting; your mpg's will increase slightly.

Hmmm... And he's 7mm closer to the fenders than I would be.

Ugh, why do 255 and 245 tires have to be the same price!

6.5k (Redline)

Getting on to the freeway, I'll shift at 4k. Putting around town, a little less. During a race, I'll shift around 5-5.5k.

I used to be afraid of hitting the limiter. Until I realized that it's a limiter and that's what it's for. The one race where I was hitting the limiter about 30 feet from a braking zone. Talked to a couple other drivers who agreed that the fastest option was to just bounce off the limiter instead of shifting.

Feels fine shifting at 2k. I drive slow and its to loud past that.

But I usually drive alone with nothing in the car, impreza superleggera style

I'm with Jordan on that one, I don't race but I hit it a lot in the winter drifting in 1st/2nd gear. When you need to keep a line you can't be shifting mid-drift. Probably not the best thing for it, but I take it easy on the car during the summer months.

The tune isn't an "omg I can feel so much more power", but more of a "yes, this is how the car should've came from the factory". It's way more lively. The torque is more immediate.

Shifting at 2k would mean you are in 4th gear by 30mph... In other words you are shifting immediately from 1st>2nd, 2nd>3rd and 3rd to 4th. No pull at all in any of those 4 gears.

Completely possible, but where's the fun? Lol

while on a road trip. from where im staying for the summer back to salt lake I like to shift around 2.5k just to see how high I can get my avg mpg, but that doesn't mean I don't like to have fun. my drive to work is over Teton pass I like to shift close to redline when possible.

So fun!

This conversation was started by asking how to get best mpg's. No one said anything about what gear their in when having fun.

Valid point. I still think 2k is too early. Too much bog at low rpms and when you do need to accelerate quick (which is frequent) there goes all of the gas you conserved before hand.

I think on a 2 wheel drive, car shifting at a low rpm is more ideal.

bumpdate,
After a lot of elbow grease, I turned the ugly 08 wrx grille into the beauty I have below and swapped out the stock one.

My bro also bought me a 30" Totron LED lightbar! After basically hacking up all of the lower grille; it fits flush and is mounted very solid. One word describes this beast, BRIGHT!
