Shop said it was normal. They didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Although they said making my exhaust a full 3" back would help spool and power. Although I do wonder if the stock muffler would cause me to lose 50hp... My other theory of lack of power is due to the Process West TMIC pipe bends to support the DOM for legacy fitment. Maybe this really kills the power? I do have to wonder if the stock turbo intake is collapsing, but I kind of doubt it.

I should also say I'm not burning any significant amount of oil. My OCIs are 3500 miles. The previously mentioned dyno numbers were not done on a Mustang, but dynojet or dynapack.
Also, I have the 10cm hotside option, which could hurt spool, but I didn't expect it to be 4k. Honestly I'm tired of throwing money at the car and perhaps it's for the best. If the car doesn't make big power, then it's more reliable right? |

my 8cm is 18psi at about 3850rpm so not that far off from yours.
my biggest thing is being outperformed by the vf and the money ive sank into this to get a little more performance without going wild. i just wanted a little more than the what the vf offered. nothmans dyno plot looks nice for a dd and wouldnt be outran by a vf car. i would be happy if i was overlapping at 4k too. it should since im making 18psi there. would more timing help with that or hurt it? my car feels like the airboy shows. i like midrange power and that why i went with this turbo. i think i was running less timing with the vf, not sure though. |

we started in 2nd gear around 2300 rpm. topped 2nd and 3rd and let off somwhere in later 4th when i wasnt gaining. im gonna run him again , and start at different rpm. before he flashed a more aggresive timing map, i put a nose on him and stayed there.
we were just doing this for comparison sake. the vf shouldnt have that much more trq at 4k when this turbo is spooled right? Last edited by spec_bg; 08-05-2012 at 03:37 PM. |

Also what type of car is the vf car?
But starting at 2300....he's gotta take like 5 cars on you outta the hole starting that low. Last edited by Phatron; 08-05-2012 at 04:02 PM. |

05 sti, peaking at 19psi tapering to around 11psi. surprisingly his idc's are low 90's. we took logs to compare right afterwards, the main difference is he is running more timing everywhere. its not knocking even though it might be harmful, egt's, i dont know, its quick.

ive been searching on the forums and all the dyno plots seem consistent from different shops and tuners. these same shops have stg2 sti's at high 2hundreds like i was and they went to 350+ with dom. i know they are numbers but i have nothing else to go off of. |

All I know is my 2008 STi with Dom1.5 pulls significantly harder than my 2011 WRX with VF52. I still have both in my garage, so I can drive them back to back and the STi is definitely faster.
One thing I would suggest is using flat-foot shifting. I can tell a pretty significant pause in boost if I shift normally vs flat-foot shifting. FFS almost makes it feel like I didn't even shift at all, continuous acceleration. |

the thing that still gets me is why the torque is lower than vf . power and torque should peak sooner and higher than vf at around 4k shouldnt it? i mean if they are both at 18psi the bigger turbo should make more power. im just asking im no expert
me and northman compared logs and they are very similar except for maf g's. he's pulling 350g's and makes 350hp and im around 300 gs making 300hp. maf volts are similar. but mafvolts arent that far off with a vf , they hit around 4.7. im not sure how much difference 4.7 is from 4.8. the sti is pulling around 300 maf g's too.and i think mine also matched on the vf tune too again im just curious, im not arguing or anything. just want to get this figured out. i miss the torque |

You should peak later with more power. I'm surprised he was only one car length ahead with you pulling from 2.3kRPM. You need to learn how to stay in your new powerband.

My log was taken going up a hill, so it won't plot very well for acceleration. I will try to make a flat pull and log it in the next day or so, but finding a flat, straight empty stretch of road is not so easy where I'm at.
Maybe looking at MAF g/s is not an accurate measure of power, but on my car it seems to correlate, my VF tune, on different injectors as well, seemed to match (300 whp, 300 g/s), and the current tune at 350/350. |

It does correlate on a car, but not between different cars.
Brandon was at 250g/s on the vf, now 300 on the dom1.5. Same exact delta as you. |
