Well I didn't take many pics either. There really isn't much to show

However I just learned that my laptop at work has a non-working SD card drive...awesome.

Leaving straight from work to head home to Virginia Beach...so expect them tomorrow

Lots bushing pushing

Lumpy (highway patrol) ready for surgery on a rusty lateral link bolt.

once pushed through the lower control arm rear mount...you will have to remove the inner sleeve. It is a pain and the MSI aluminum housing for this will save LOTS of time...and be uber billet pretty

Inner liner of the front control arm mount, mentioned above. Here you can see the chisel that was carefully used to split it. Between this and center punches, we walked the sleeve off of the housing wall and split it with the chisel. Eventually you get far enough that you can twist it with vise grips and rip it out...or in this case, split it the whole length.

Diff Carrier bushings

stock washer

stock bushing

The upper bushing on washer and a little grease on it to help it stick in place.

now going into place

lower inner bushing in...a little grease or something of a similar natural will help it stick in place while working under the car.

lower outer going on. It does require a little manipulating to get it to pull around the 'ridges' on the stock bushing.

Back to bushings

note cell phone pics as the dslr battery died :sadbana: and appologies.

The way to press out the rear trailing arm bushing without having to tear down the rear upright.

As the tip of the puller was pointed and near the side of the bolt hole, we used a nickle (which was eaten through) and then a quarter (greased up and used with the nickel) to keep the puller tip from digging into the stock sleeve or from damaging the tool.

new bushings are in and ready for install

Rear Crossmember 'touch up'

I didn't want to go too crazy as this is just a street car but put some torsion on the crossmember and saw points where it pulled. You'll see some of the points below, cleaned up and ready for welding. There is more work to be done for a race car for instance but I figured a few little spots to help, with minimal work, is fine for this.

This corner got tapped flat with a ball-peen hammer and the corner was welded down.

This corner received 'hammer love' too...though not shown.

R180 diff, mustache bar and axles.

The bushings are very simple and straight forward. Simply press and replace. The fitement into the rear xmember was quite snug, so I put a little grease to coax the bar into place. Also with the diff hanging off, once bolted in, you could tell how much stiffer these are. I look forward to not hearing the 'clunk' anymore.

4.44 R180 sitting in it's new home.

DSS R180 conversion axles...had these sitting around from an old build. On a budget, a 'JDM' R160 4.44 (or in several USDM cars as well but without LSD) and it's inner stubs can easily be swapped over to your GD bar and out cv's.

R160, meet your replacement, R180.

Another, just for size comparison.

Ver. 3 RA Trans, back together and waiting for it's turn.

FCAR pics are yet to come as well...dead camera = no pics but it is straight forward for bushing install as mentioned above (inner sleeve that has to be removed).

If I really cared a great deal about improving the rear x-member I'd have added some material to crossemember and dimple die punched other areas...but it's a DD that I'll probably wrap up the project, play with until about April/May time frame. Then onto the next project car...

This will probably, though regrettably, be going up for sale to put money down on BRZ/FRS.

Hey Micah, have you done any calcs to see if any of the EZ motors would benefit from a long rod setup? I know they aren't cheap and plentiful and don't have much aftermarket support. I just keep thinking about it and like the idea of 2 extra cylinders/more displacement.

I'd looked into the EZ engines, not nearly like I did on the EJ's. I did some quick off the cough calcs.

Not really much room for doing a long rod, however stroking an EZ30 or destroking an EZ36 are both options too.

Hahahahaha how did I know you had already looked into this. I meant to include destroking/stroking in my original question.

Hmmm destroked EZ36.....you don't say

Who am I kidding, it will be a very long time before I can afford such a project. Will probably settle on something more common/cheaper/easier by the time I start to see the costs add up.
