Default Are these toys worth anything?!

So I'm out with Mrs. Janq today in a far off land that will remain nameless thats located out in the boonies looking for old Victorian style homes.

We stop in this one hamlet to walk around and I see a toy shop.
Now I'm a sucker for toys and figured I'd drop in to see what they have.

Imagine my surprise when I see they have a full size Chewbacca head ($185), all manner of old 70's era plastic models, original GI Joe's in the box (full size Ken dool size!) as well as the original minature versions like from the cartoon ($9-$30 per).

So I'm visibly drooling when I come across a die cast model of the _Yamamato_ as a "Limited Reproduction" from the early '80's cartoon 'Star Blazers'!!!! This stuf was 100% JDM as the box had no Elnglsh on it at all other than a real bad translation as to how to wake eings pop out of the sides and open the "storage bay" for the three 'Tiger' fighters that came with it. Cost, $40!

Then up high atop a dusty shelf is a Dictionary sized 'book' that said RoboTech Macross VF-14 on the front. So I grab it and discover that its actually a box fashioned to look like a book and when I open the 'cover' there inside is a scale fighter jet with a tiny pilot and various armaments all unpainted but assembeled in white plastic. The fighter is fully articulated and transformable from fighter to robot mode. The package was completely unopened. Aksing price, $75!

There were tons of other arcane and old stuff including a pair of jackets made from that material FedEx packs used to be made of and it featured the 1992 Olympic basketball team including John Stockton and _Larry Bird_. This place was like a modern day time warp for toys. It was amazing!

Also they had a board game called 'Shell Shocked' that was wayyy old and is quite similar in layout to 'Squad Leader'. If you know what I'm talking about (few will), they only had one in stock and wanted $37 for it. My brother in law is a nut for Squad leader and I almost bought it on site for him as a birthday gift (next year) but I called my sister in-law and she said forget it as nobody ever wants to play his lame games with him.

So, I know some of you are toy geeks.
Tell me if you think any of this stuff is worth the coin as I'll be back out there tomorrow to view a house with their local realtor.

Thanks,

- Janq

I don't know how/why that happened.

A mod deleted it for me though.

Default Check on E-bay

When I see something for sale at a garage sale or estate sale etc., I search on e-bay to see what it may be selling for. You can even do an advanced search and just bring up items that have previously sold, in case there is no current listing for the item.

I saw an antique cereal bowl with Shirley Temple on it a local garage sale, it looked kinda cool and collectable( potential investment, buy and resell) They wanted $40.00 The same bowl was selling on E-bay for anywhere from 10- 20.00 so it was way too high priced. just an example.

go to your local bookstore and flip through toyfare or another one of those toy collector magazines and they will have prices on some of the stuff you mentioned. Especially the GIJOE's.

I of course plan to check e-Bay, thats a given.
But visting a book store to look this stuff up is not within my ability due to time.

I have no time tomorrow for all that action, which is why I'm askig publicly.

Thanks though.
