Finished product.

i got some 100% real carbon fiber peddals i think im going to install tomorrow too.

This project wont progress very fast at all for quite awhile. got a 67 camaro im restoring at a very rapid rate, and dumping thousands and thousands of dollars into right now. and also a couple grand into a 4 wheeler as well. So after i recoupe my self from that ill start really tearing into this thing. (prob a year down the road) but ill get some small things done here and there. stay tuned

Hmmm, interesting. You decided to "fry" your headlights on your stove top and then "broil" them in your oven for that crispy look? Good thing you used the cookie sheet so as not to burn the underside

Then i bought a project bike that ill invest about 2 grand into over the summer.

So this wont start really getting modifyed untill probably next summer unless i come up with a kick ass job lol.

Welcome to the world of White BAJA'S.
Yours is now the fifth one I have seen, besides mine, and only the second one outside of New York! There is a thread here on how many white BAJA's were built, check it out.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Awesome, awesome find, a turbo manual!

What path do you think you're going to take this thing down? Street truck, baja buggy, crawler, etc?

$19,999.00!!! Granted low mileage, but WOW!! (Cali market, I suppose!)
Still, just goes to show what the market will bear, and maybe the demand for used BAJA's is on the way up.
I recently went to the dealership where I bought my BAJA, and the salesman said he had been looking for a BAJA to sell someone. I said in a nice way to him, "keep looking, this one ain't going nowhere fast!"

around here bajas sell QUICK. they dont last on the lots for more than a week. I missed on out 3 of them because i drug my feet for a couple days.

saw the first one on the lot, and was like ill come back. 2 days later i came back. gone.
2nd one. saw it. came in and looked... wasnt the nicest one ever, drug my feet. next day gone.
3rd one, had reallly high miles.. .so i didnt really want it, but it was sold with in a week.

When this one popped up on craigslist. i immediately called, and jumped in the truck and drove the 2 hours to the dealership and didnt waste any time signing those papers after the test drive lol.

every turbo baja ive found has been 17K+ seen a few listings upto 21k even. They are kinda hard to come across for sale. atleast in my neck of the woods. But this is subaru country. We have the highest subaru sales like anywhere or something. Everytime i checked craigslist there was only 2-3 max. Mine listed for 19,999 when i showed up to the dealership. talked em down to 14,998. the only other baja i found that cheap that was turboed was listed at 15k firm from a private seller and was a salvage title with a lot of miles.

they hold their value pretty well.

I went from being one of the very first people to snag a 06 STi when they came out, and to now this... besides the noticeable difference in power... (obviously) i dont think i downgraded at all. The ride and interior of hte baja is sooo much nicer than the STi ever was. and a few grand later... and ill have the STi power back. Plus soo much more the sti could never offer. Im completely happy with it. i love these little trucks! the only thing i will miss is the strength of a sti. i can no longer beat the living piss out of my suby and not care... i know this truck cant handle it lol.

I glanced at that picture quickly and first thing I noticed was the rear Brembo caliper on the front. Made me Then I noticed it was a photochop

I'll challenge you to the most Subarus in the area, since 7 of the top 20 dealerships(in terms of volume) are here, with one of them recently being #1.

Nice find you got there. I think I've seen maybe 1 white one around here, and I usually see a few Bajas a day. Mostly black/silver, yellow/silver, and red/silver around here. I'd definitely recommend a Kartboy short shifter/bushings and the Turn in Concepts pivot bushings. I did those, and it improved the shift feel tremendously.

Street Truck: good call man. That's the way I've gone with mine. I eventually want to get to an SCCA Solo National event for giggles. I can say with reasonable certainty that my baja is one of the only regularly-raced ones on the planet.

I just finally got reflashed off my limp tune to my 'real' stage 2 tune and I'm pleased with the power. It'll be even better with my lighter wheels and smaller tires, and 110 pound weight reduction at autox this year.

yeah i got a buddy in boulder, you got about the same country as us. we were #1 one year. i just assummed we still were pretty damn high up there lol.

a short shifted was deff on my list! i was thinking of cobb, but ill check out the kartboy too. thanks

how much power are you putting down to the wheels now. are you still running the stock turbo?

I'm still on the stock turbo. I have a full 3"+ turboback, and a K&N filter in the stock box with the silencer removed, and an appropriate tune, of course. It hasn't been dyno'd, but will be in the next year or so. I can garuntee no more than 230WHP, but I'm confident torque is right near 300 at the wheels. (A tuner named Al dyno'd an 08 wrx hatch with 240ish whp and 310+ wtq with an intake and turboback, on a supposedly 'safe' map.)I can't justify a bigger turbo because the stocker is so great for autocross. Not to mention, cruising on the highway and mashing the throttle, even in 5th, makes the rear squat hard(on coilovers even) and the cruck rockets away.

Your stock hood weighs 50 pounds and your backseats 80. Ditch the backseats and switch to a carbon hood, and you've lost 110 pounds. I run mine like that every summer. The tailgate also weighs a crapload, but I don't think I could hide gutting it from my local SCCA tech inspectors, they'd toss me in with the 'real' race cars at our auto-x's.

lol yeah these things are pigs for sure. Im not going for a race car right now. ive had my race car they are to expensive to maintain. I want more of a show car at this point. and i want to be able to haul all my buddys to the mt. or whatever, so im really not concerned with weight.

I will switch to a vf39 though. not so much for power. just the wow factor (plus i have one laying around)

after i have 6 grand to dump into a STi 6 spd/and brake swap.. well then ill aim more for a race car build and worry more about performance and suspension.

Ah, I see. The weight is a big issue for me, since taking stuff out is free. If you have a free VF39, use it . I want to have my car pretty much gutted and turned into a toy within a year of having it paid off. Though, if subaru's RWD coupe doesn't get canned, I might just return to stock and buy one of those.

yeah i want more of a comfortable daily driver right now. something i can drag to car shows and have fun with. i loved my sti to pieces. but now that i compare the two.. the ride was soo loud, and so ruff, and just not near as relaxing as i feel with the baja. So thats really got me hooked right now. Ive pretty much only drove ruff riding gutted race cars, or huge lifted trucks since the day i turned 16... so im feeling like i jumped into a mercedes right about now hahaha. so i could care less about weight.

I will for sure be throwing on my vf39. but not untill i can save up enough for a new fuel pump, injectors, front mount, down pipe, uppipe, exhaust, and some sort of engine management. Probably will just change out to a STi ecu and run a UTEC. So the vf39 will be a loong ways down the road sadly. its torcher i know lol.

Thumbs up

Theres a Utec for the Baja.. no need to swap ecus. A bigger top mount is all the intercooler you'll need if you're sticking with the vf39. I recommend perrin or TurboXS. Injectors are optional too with that turbo. Fuel pump is a must though (Walbro 255). I'm running 16-18 pounds depending on the map on the stock injectors with no issues. Mods include SPT intake, STI top mount (too small), Alphawerks 4-1 header (Do not buy!) and a full turbo back. If you drive hard you'll eventually break the trans. I did twice and got a PPG gearset from Andrewtech. It's been a joy ever since. GOOD LUCK!

ahh utec makes it for the baja? score!! i hadnt evened looked yet, just assumed it was a no since ive heard time after time again theres no ecu management for these.

I build my own intercoolers, so i always go front mount, mainly because its more fun, more of a status symbol, and i dont like huge top mounts for fitment reasons.
I just found out the stock injectors are the same size as a sti injector, so your right there. completely optional for now.

Ill never buy headers. i like the sound of the subaru unequal lengths. and i never aim for soo much power that the stock headers arent sufficient enough.

Id bust a wrx trans in a week. and PPG gears are a waste of money im sorry lol. they break just as easy. Even cryo'ed they still are not strong enough. STi 6spd is the only trans ive managed not to break, and its taken my hardest beatings.
