maybe sometime in November. I'm completely busy for the next month. But part of that is a trip to MI that should yield some nice stuff for a bottle share.

The reason I never went to petrol is due to the reviews on service, and the crowds. Now I am a bit more versed in craft beer and am going with a decent group so I'm excited to check it out. Price for me luckily isn't a problem but I just know petrol is closer to me than hay merchant so I have always wanted to check it out.

You guys are missing the forest for the trees. There reason why you see so many douchebags, tools, etc. is because there are just that many in the world now. Escape is futile. They are everywhere. Just maneuver around them like all the real cats in there do.

They are just like those lame, untrained terrier's and pit bulls you see in every neighborhood. Very fashionable and in style, but harmless. Show em a mean mug. The kind that says, bitch, I will slap that beer outta yer hand if you get funky with me ya lil punk!

Yeah, it was PenFed. Not saying it's bad but when a food truck is named 'Happy Endings' what can go wrong? [/Deep Fried Pork Buns]

somewhere on a widespread panic forum, some hipsters are complaining about flatulant grease monkies invading their space

Disclaimers: aschen is quite old and has no idea what modern hipsters listen to, in 94 widespread panic would have been an acceptable example

No you're not alone at all.

I don't go to B&B for the food or the beer. I go to visit with friends at a place where we have a reserved table, where I don't have to wait in line to get a beer, get food, or pee. The waitstaff knows us and treats us well, and there's plenty of parking even if it's over in front of Specs.

I think Petrol's a great place, just more so on a Saturday afternoon, less so on crowded Hipster Thursdays.

I like both, but B&B is a guaranteed, reserved table, and 99% of the time, it is not crowded. Now, with (American) football season underway, any Thursday night game with Nawlin's is going to be right-out b/c that crowd is ridiculous. Not even a Texans game draws as many people.

I have a different opinion on the food from Rob, but that is a personal experience. The only thing that does me wrong from B&B is the pizza... it is tasty, but something about it just does -bad- things. Stick with the staples, imho... chicken strips/wings/burgers/meatloaf/steak.

Now, I go regularly, so maybe the change over time isn't apparent to me like others who go less frequently.

And, I do agree also with Melissa... the prices are obviously better at B&B, it's about 1/2 what my tab at Petrol is. Now, having said that, Petrol definitely has a much better beer selection. Hipsters are the devil though... ugh.

I guess it comes down to: why are we at a happy hour, to b.s. with each other in a social setting or to drink rare beers (primarily, I mean.. yes we can do both). I would be just as happy to drink lone star at an ice-house, to be honest.

I don't -need/require- to drink killer beer just to show up for happy-hour... it ain't about the beer (for me). Edit: ahh crap, ok, I didn't read the whole thread-to-current before posting... it seems 'lord' and I agree, but we didn't rehearse that.

Oddly enough though, I may miss this evening b/c I need to pack for the Lemons race this weekend. If I can get that done and still feel spry, I'll see about heading out.

Petrol is my favorite balance between price, crowd, and good beer.

Craft beer scene is chock full of hipsters because somebody told them it was cool. Most of them give a crap less about the beer, just hold one in their hand to look cool. Posers.
Not a big fan of the Hay Merchant. Met up with some work people there, and all you see are really uppity girls acting like the place is a damn night club or something. Petrol Station I've always liked. Never had an issue with service and they have an awesome beer selection. Their food is usually of better quality than B&B too...

I love the London Broil @ B&B though, favorite thing there... with mushy peas. Oh, and cheap Guinness...

Agreed!

I also agree with OMJ about the HH idea. That said, I go to both opportunities and try to only have the Petrol thing once a month. So that leaves 3 B&B nights a month.

I have wondered if we should check out Kings Head pub though.

I'd love to do Rockwell too, but that is a haul for most everyone. I love the place, don't get me wrong.

If we did it once a month, I'd probably be down for that too.

See y'all truckers tonight! <holds arm straight out, drops mic and walks off>

Indeed, already sounds like a conversation that we would have at an HHH. Besides, Rob already coined the term douchesters.
