it will be interesting to see what the Curb weight comes out to be. I know they had a pretty aggressive target considering the size and AWD of the car.

Notice no weight is listed.
Rumors of exotic materials being used to bring the weight down have run rampant |

My jaw literally dropped looking at that lap time. Is it me, or does that just seem unpossible for a ~500bhp production car...... and under $100K????

I don't think it's impossible. It takes a lot of engineering, time, and work. But I don't think it's impossible at all.

If you know that other cars on that list, you'd know it certainly wasn't a production version. As far as anyone thinking that time was in a stock car...well...what can I say....I guess just that I'm confident you couldn't afford one anyway |

Sure it is...you can't engineer around physics. A production version, at full weight, doesn't have what it takes to run that time. Did you see the cars on that list?

While the 7:15 time is semi official, the car that actually ran it isn't. There is a video of the times for proof, with an engine shot.
Rumors are the car that did the time (one of 4 that was at the ring that day), was a ringer Nissan brought knowing the press was watching. It may have been lightened, had race rubber that looked like the street version, and had 650+ HP. But doing it with the VQ V6 shows the potential of the car, even if this was a ringer. If you watch the Video, the car actually lifts 2 wheels in some turns Official Ring times, and L Seca times will be published at the cars launch in October |

I agree with the very improbable time listed above. Production version sounds about right at 7:35 to 7:45, seeing the other cars listed in that range, and even that seems like a stretch to me.

That pic assures me that the lap time given was with a ringer on race rubber. Most definitly not a production model. Still, we can see the potential for the car. I'm sure the new GT-R will not disappoint anyone lucky enough to own one. |

I have heard that times at the 'ring need to be taken with a grain of salt--was the time achieved from a standing start or with a flying warm-up lap--that can make a pretty big difference.
