The 276hp limit for Japanese cars was lifted in 2004 so all the evo's and sti's have been <300hp for too long i think! But what do I know, probably have emissions and fuel consumption to worry about....

In 92 the e36 m3 got pumped from 200hp to 240hp in North America and almost 300 in other countries. Then in 2001 the e46 gets 330hp. And in 2007 the e92 gets 414hp v8. Now for 2013 more powerful turbo 6 cylinder coming out.

Not to mention all the special edition m3's like the csl or gtr versions that are lighter and more powerful. All Subaru does is change some badges and have a different color and call it a cool limited edition car. STI needs to get cooler now!!

Well it is a Motorsport car. Can always buy like a 330 or 335 if you don't want to pay for the M.

Even in the 90's the m3 was already 40k. They were expensive from the start

Can you say German? The Deutschmark has almost always kicked azz on the US dollar. They are nice cars for sure! I had 3 different 2002's in the day, a 1973, 1971 and the last being a 1971 2002 Tii European version with a close ratio 5 speed with reverse in the #1 spot and 5th wear 4th normally resides. Super fun 2000 lb. car with 150 HP!

Agreed though since we 're making a Subaru wish list, you guys are right on with the STI getting the forged internals and maybe a closed deck as well. I like what you outlined drew!

Dogleg first gear...Nice. That's a racecar right there. I wouldn't mind seeing that in our cars.

Yep it was and agreed! So when are you getting your SSLR and is it a shortblock or longblock? I have a couple hundred more miles to put on my new SSLR build and then Junior is tuning it next Monday! Oh boy, it should be fun

No dog leg, that's the up and over shift pattern on the euro race boxes.

It was a pretty good box on that car, not as strong as our 6 speeds but pretty stout!

Haha, the digression! My friend John had a gorgeous 2002, completely stripped with a built motor. That thing was a sideways machine lol.

If I think about it the new STI, using the FA engine should be at the 365hp mark at least, I mean it's time they stepped up.

Ultimately the STI is a fast car but I think it needs forged internals, I doubt the cost would go up that mych

I can tell. You call more than anyone to ask questions already answered...
And you're getting the quicker timeline. I couldn't imagine how much I would hear from you if you had to wait like everyone else.

Haha, my case was something like "I need a shortblock yesterday." I think I've called at least once or twice a week since I first ordered it...2 billion questions too.

I'm sorry I'm such a pain in the ass Dom...You know you can just tell me to shut the **** up and sit in my corner I'm probably going to be getting some sort of "Pain in my ass" fee, huh...You're lucky you don't deal with my dad, he asks me about every day what the status of my motor is. Be happy I didn't give him your number

You weren't complaining when I broke out the assault rifles!

Drew, if JE hadn't f'd up their piston production by moving it's facility to Ohio and still taking orders as if nothing ever happened, you'd have your engine by now. Instead, you're getting upgraded to the Super H beam long rods and different pistons. So while it's taking a couple days longer than anticipated, you're getting free upgrades.

I was at lunch when you called today. Dave answered.

The phone ringers are broken though, so if we don't see the flashy light, we don't know anyone called. We're getting one of those phone ringer amplifier things to make it super loud and extra annoying when people call.
