Bluetooth Connection Issues
My 2013 STi base with non-nav constantly has connectivity problems with my car.
It will say paired, but constantly disconnect from phone and media audio, and won't let me reconnect. I'm on a VZW Galaxy S4, and I tried connecting my buddy's SGS4 but he had the same issue on Sprint with Kit Kat. I've reset the phone, reinitialized the bluetooth, and no cigar. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I have an appointment with my dealership on Friday Thanks all

I'd also be interested in hearing what others have to say about the Bluetooth Tech. I myself have an older GSII which constantly disconnects and restarts my phone and is extremely variable with music and phone calls (essentially useless). My GF on the otherhand has an iPhone 5 and works perfectly fine with no connectivity issues. Pure speculation but could possibly be an issue with Samsung Firmware.

As HighRevinWRX said, it might need a firmware upgrade.

Yes. I have the same issue with a new Samsung Note 3. The car was working perfectly fine with iphone 5 and 5s. But with the android 4.3, it doesn't auto connect. I have to manually turn on/off the phone's Bluetooth for it to connect to the car every time I enter it. Last year I was using an S3, which works fine. New firmware doesn't fix that issue either.
Just did a quick search, it's an well know issue with S4 and Note 3. Fix: Just played around with the HD. and find out how to connect it properly. Remove all existing BT connection, Press the "call" button on the steeling wheel and go to setup and add new phone. If you use the Setup Key on the HD unit to add a media player. it won't connect to the HD every time you turn on the car. Last edited by winglik; 03-19-2014 at 07:43 PM. |

I followed all the instructions, and I got a new Replacement Galaxy S4 from VZW. It was working for a day, and then now it connects, but plays through the speaker on the phone, still Bluetooth-A connected and I can change and next the music etc.
I guess I'll take it up with the dealer tomorrow |

I had a similar problem with an S4 and eclipse head. Try turning off voice control. I had to go into app manager and kill all of it there too. Its been working fine now even though the process starts up again eventually.

Hey Ronen91, what'd the dealership say?
I've been having a similar issue lately... my connectivity was fine for quite some time (old phone, new phone), then just recently, my car drops the pair to my Sony Xperia Z. I've re-paired both with buttons and voice, which worked a few times, now it won't even connect to the phone, just music. Hrmph. |

Have you guys been using the voice prompts to pair your phones? That seems to be the trick on these radios. Don't pair the phone manually using the menu.

I did the voice prompts and it worked once, then each time, it only paired up music, no phone, and it loses the pair each time I turn the car off.

Step 1) delete ALL previously paired bluetooth devices with the HU controls.
Step 2) Use the Steering wheel/voice commands to pair the new phone. I was struggling with this for days and learned that following the above two steps was crucial. It may also be worth mentioning that if your phone happens to be rooted with Cyanogenmod installed, your bluetooth will likely not work no matter what you do. I had to switch to another ROM on my Nexus 5 for Bluetooth to function correctly but the 2 steps I previously mentioned were still key. EDIT: For those who care, Cyanogenmod fixed their bluetooth issues with their M6 build. Most other 4.4.2 ROMs pair just fine as well. Last edited by sc00ter; 05-21-2014 at 06:55 PM. |

Anyone know which connector or wires on the back of the headunit operate the audio buttons on the steering wheel? I'm trying to see if I have a bad satellite switch.

I can attest that sc00ter's most recent instructions work perfectly.
Deleted all pairs using the dash controls (because I couldn't get the car to recognize my voice for all the phone names), re-paired using voice commands, and now everything works. Before, re-pairing (without deleting all phone profiles) wouldn't even hold a BT connection for a car ride, and it would only pair data, not phone. Knock on wood, I've been good for 3-4 days now. |

Two ways to fix this...
1. Update to 4.4. ~OR~ 2. Disable MAPS for bluetooth. (Stands for something like Message Access Protocol Something*) Anyways, disable that and get the app called "Bluetooth Keep Alive". I had the same issue and I haven't had it since! |

I first heard about this situation today. I have a Droid Razr M running on Kit Kat that was recently upradged from the previous OS. I still havent run into any issues. Could it due to a previous owner? Only time will tell i guess. Please give an update when you find an answer!

I suppose I should update my original post to mention that Cyanogenmod fixed the Bluetooth issues as well. I can now pair the phone just fine with that ROM as well.

I had major problems with my Galaxy s3 on my impreza 13 sport premium non nav as well. I had to download an app that would do an auto negotiate with the bluetooth in the car to auto connect..
I now have the same issue with my windows phone and there is no fix for it for me..I may use it as an excuse to get a new HU :-) |

I can't even pair my Droid Razr Maxx with my 2015 WRX. It says the car keeps rejecting the pairing. Any ideas?

Humm ...
I'm also having problems trying to connect a Nexus 5 to the 2015 WRX w/ no nav. I followed the instructions: Press Off Hook > Press Talk > Select Language > Press Enter > Say Phone Name > Press Talk > Say Confirm > Turn on Pairing of Phone ... and this is where the problem starts. The WRX BT says failed right before the phone show the screen to confirm the password. I've done some research online and this seems to be a common issue w/ no resolution. Ideas? Thanks.

Interesting ...
I re-checked and there were no previous phones listed however I do have a very interesting update ...
I used my wife's phone (Nokia) and it paired by BT first try to both the 2012 XT and 2015 WRX. My phone (Nexus 5) would not pair by BT to either cars. However, I remembered in the past that the Nexus 5 some how did pair to the BT audio in the XT but I had to do a "tweak." I changed the passkey from the default of 1234 to 0000 (both are typical options) and it worked. I took the same thought process and tried it in the WRX and ... it WORKED! Summary, if you have a pairing issue also try changing/using both 1234 and 0000 as the passkey in both the headunit and phone. |
