Isn't there a second plug for the Pioneer unit for the handbrake bypass? (I'm not too sure if there are for the NEX units - not too familiar with those)

As for a 2nd plug for the bypass, I don't think so???? Look at the radio manual: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/St...nual011714.pdf ...and picture of the rear: ...and please let me know, thanks in advance for helping this newb. One last thing, I've been thinking of using the rear facing camera input for something useful, considering the WRX will come with the rear camera already. My idea's are wild, infrared (but why?, am I James Bond? Lol), front facing camera (what's the point in that?), and "parking assist camera" which seems like the most useful. The way I'd use it is to make sure my rims don't touch the edge of a sidewalk or that my front bumper does not get too close to a parking block. Last, a turn signal camera to make sure my blind spot is clear "AFTER CHECKING WITH MY OWN EYES WITH A HEAD TURN". Just tossing idea's out there... |

I'm sure most of those ideas are achievable with the right knowledge, but that goes beyond mine. I know there are some people out there (not sure if they're on these forums) who have done the front facing camera with manual relay/switch they've wired to trigger the camera power and video to the HU. I'm just using the rear camera input in mine to duplicate the camera image that's already on the MFD - I find that screen is too small and far away to be helpful when reversing. |

how easy was it to tap into the rear camera input already in the car? i have to agree that it's quite small

BMW has this virtual around view thing that sounds super cool but might be too technical to try. If it turns out the rear facing cam on the 2015 is too small, then I might just tap into the signal. I have big dreams....but little no how lol. |

nice setup -- 1 question about the radio. now with this aftermarket HU, do you still see the songs listed on the screen above (where the boost is ..) -- I don't know what they call that but can you also see the station name, songs and jplaylists from there as well - or do u loose that capability ?? I always wondered about that.

you lose the capability. Make sure when you're doing the radio install that you undo your battery or you'll get an error with the upper screen saying there's a problem with your stereo. Undoing the batter during install will make that audio screen disappear completely when you power the car back on.

^I did that by chance, and never got an error so what Subidoogie said is 100% true. Glad I did it, error messages annoy me lol.

Htapocysp- I also installed 5600. Does your phone on hook/off hook buttons work on the steering wheel? Also has your radio reception gotten a lot worse? Are you able to play video when parked? I'm having these issues with mine.

Yes they work. If yours don't then you might have to manual program them on your aswc.
My radio reception is the same as far as i can tell. I can play video parked or moving. I installed the bypass. |

What did you need for the video bypass?

Some pioneer radio's have a trick, you do some touch screen pattern (think old school game pad sequence lol) but this does not work on all models.
The NEX4000 for example, the one I installed, this trick didn't work so for a few bucks I got my bypass on eBay and it worked perfectly. |

so with an aftermarket HU, you will lose the song info screen on the small screen above only? Would it affect the other screens like trip, wheels, reverse etc.
