Also, did you ever figure out the radio antenna problem? I was wondering from SVXdc's website if we needed to just put the blue/white system remote control wire to the blue/white wire on the SVXdc harness. That is the power to start up the amp (both subwoofer, speaker, and the car antenna booster amp) if my understanding is correct. Anybody know if this is right?

I forget the actual color of the wires, but yes, you do need to hook the car antenna booster lead to the remote turn on from the radio. If your installing the NEX, I do believe there was only one lead for the remote turn for amp and antenna. Just double check your install instructions.

Also, I do believe you are variation B for SWC. Variation B is the one that lists Imprezas and WRX. If your still not sure, e-mail SVXdc and ask him.

I was actually thinking about putting a front view camera for the same reason.

Although I'd like to retain the Fujitsu Ten factory Nav HU and hook the front camera into it's camera video input... if it even has one?

That way the factory backup camera stays wired to the MFD, and the front camera can be switched on manually via button/whatever to display onto the OEM HU screen on-demand.

A wide angle cam like this would be nice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCaf3C5l8Ck

Of course I have no idea what I'm doing so it's also just 'big dreams'

BMW has this virtual around view thing that sounds super cool but might be too technical to try.

If it turns out the rear facing cam on the 2015 is too small, then I might just tap into the signal. I have big dreams....but little no how lol.

Check on AE64.com. If it can be done, he should have the harness for it.

There are actually kits out there to do the bird's eye view. I believe I saw one from alpine. I think the hardest thing would be finding the right mounting point for the side view cameras.

so , I have a lot of HD stations in my area, but when I changed out the stock HU, I noticed a considerable decrease in clarity as compared to the crappy Subaru HU. it works fine and stays connected so I assumed that the pwr booster is working fine -but I do notice it sounds real crappy now. before, it would sound as clear as my ipod. anyone else have this issue ?

Normally, if you have reception problems with HD radio, your HU will switch back to analog (and if your were listening to one of the -2 or -3 alternate broadcasts, you'd loose that feed).

Your issue sounds more like a defect in your new head unit (or just poor quality in the design). I suppose it's possible that your HU is staying locked on the HD signal, but is getting so many errors that you start getting poor reproduction that sounds like noise.

Subaru's antenna booster amp requires a minimum of 12V to work. Some aftermarket HUs supply less than that, especially if you use the same wire from the HU for the trigger signal to an external speaker amp, subwoofer, and/or parking brake bypass. See the power antenna section of my 'Subaru 20-pin installation guide' for tips.

The Pioneer AVH-4000NEX doesn't need VSS (it doesn't have a wire for 'speed signal'). The AVIC-5000NEX and higher NEX models do. See my installation guide (link in previous post) for location of factory VSS wire.

I don't have VSS hooked up on my 5000NEX and it's fine.

I think VSS might improve GPS accuracy but I don't have any accuracy issues. Phones seem to do OK as GPS units without a VSS input.

Hmm, interesting. The HD reception in my area is abysmal in general and the stock base radio in my STI makes it even worse because the volume between HD and regular is quite different.

Default App radio 4

I have the 2015 wrx with standard system and upgraded using the parts suggested from David. Everything works great but I just have 2 questions. The app radio 4 comes with a gps antenna can I use the factory Sat radio antenna to avoid wiring anything by modifying the connector? Second question when you guys are saying that you mounted the gps antenna that came with your pioneer radios you are just sticking it directly on top of the head unit itself?.

Hey guys, so I'm waiting on my 2015 WRX Base in DGM, and I figured that while I wait I may as well purchase a head unit and the adapters and whatnot and wire everything up, helps pass the time. I've seen a few of you have navigation units and mounted the gps antenna right above the HU behind the dash face, I have a Kenwood dnx571HD with the Garmin navi, and I wanted to do the same. Is it working well for those of you who did it? Any losses in signal or interruptions?

How did you get in touch with him??? I messaged him about a week ago telling him what I want to order, used his order template and everything, and I haven't heard from him yet. How long did it take for him to reply to you? I'm ordering the 20 pin harness and USB adapter.

I'm sure he's busy, curious if anyone's had any contact with SVXdc? I'd really like to order a harness from him but have yet to get any response so maybe going to Metra route to install my 5000nex.
