Question Has anyone shipped their car to the lower 48?

I'm in for a change of scenery after losing my job and I want to ship my ride and belongings to the lower 48. I really don't want to drive.

Does anyone know of a company that does it? Can I ship my car with items in it? i.e. tv and computer.

I could've swore I remember a thread we had here about it costing about $1000-1500 to do it, but I'm unable to find that thread.

Any suggestions?

I had my car shipped up from Yakima, WA via RB Logistics (http://rblogisticsalaska.com/) for $1,400 in June of last year. I believe there's been an increase of about 2% or more since then to adjust for fuel costs. Also, I've been told by several people that it's cheaper to ship south than north. I'd recommend RB.

Also, you can not have more than 1/2 a tank of gasoline in your tank and nothing personal can be in the car, i.e. tv, bicycle, game consoles, etc. My car did have an extra set of tires and rims, as well as car info in an envelope located within the glovebox.

I think maybe if you look for posts I've done you'll find that particular thread because I'm sure I asked about it before I got my STi up here. Happy hunting!

Thanks for reminding me about body damage. Mine shipped via boat, supposedly below deck, so it was safe from the elements and nothing damaged it. Definitely check out Saxman's route, though, if you're looking to ship what you can inside the car. RB's regulations might be different for land transport, I don't know.

I shipped my Forester from Seattle (Port of Tacoma) to Anchorage on Totem, and they were great.

I shipped my lifted Chevy 1500 back 2 years ago to Kent Washington for 900 and that's out of Fairbanks...some company that delivered produce up for walmart....maybe call walmart and ask someone there if they know of anything. My truck arrived perfect and only took 3 days to get there. They dropped it off, gave me directions to it and that was that. Not a bad deal if you ask me...

Totem was my second choice. RB's was the quickest and most competent.

When I moved to Oregon a year ago, I used Vic Hoskins Trucking. They bring all the stock to AK for Fred Meyer, then back haul empty. I got an entire 52 ft trailer for $3000. This was door to door service. My girlfriend and I put both our cars in it as well as eveything we own with plenty of room to spare.

Naw, I've lived in Alaska all my life. This older guy was selling his stock STi for $23k with 32k miles and I just HAD to jump on that deal!

I wouldn't mind being from WA, though.
